Between Interstate 695 and U.S. 40, Maryland 43/White Marsh Boulevard is a California-style expressway, with a full interchange at its junction with U.S. 1 and five traffic lights overall. To reach Joppatowne, use Maryland 152 southeast to U.S. 40, then follow U.S. 40 west into Joppatowne. As for north Maryland 152, after passing through Fallston, Maryland 152 reaches its northern terminus at the intersection with Maryland 146 near the Ladew Topiary Gardens just south of Madonna. Maryland 24 is a divided highway between Edgewood and Bel Air, and the old alignment is designated in sections as Maryland 924. It is fairly well-developed, with a variety of development along the primary corridor from Interstate 95 to Bel Air. North of Bel Air, Maryland 24 passes through Rocks State Park, then heads north all the way to the Pennsylvania State Line, where it connects with east-west Pennsylvania 851 one mile east of north-south Pennsylvania 425 at Fawn Grove. This mileage sign provides the distance to the next exit (Exit 80, Junction Maryland 543) as well as the control cities of Philadelphia and New York City. The reason why Interstate 95 control city is New York City and not Philadelphia may be a result of traffic that takes Interstate 95 north to Interstate 295 in Delaware, then heads north toward the city via the New Jersey Turnpike. The next exit along northbound is the Maryland House service plaza, which features a full array of services, including food, gas, convenience store, information, and other amenities. This sign identifies the array of service options (restaurants and fast food). Note that the service plaza is a left exit, because Maryland House is located in the center median so it can service both directions. The next mileage sign provides the distance to Havre de Grace (next exit), Perryville via either Interstate 95 Exit 93 or U.S. 40, and New York City. Photo taken 04/30/04.
The next exit along southbound Interstate 95/John F. Kennedy Highway is Exit 89, Junction Maryland 155 to Churchville and Havre de Grace. This is the last exit before the Susquehanna River Bridge. The toll cannot be easily evaded because parallel U.S. 40's Hatem Bridge is also tolled with the same rates. The nearest free crossing over the river is located at U.S. 1 at Conowingo Dam, but that crossing is pretty far to the north (to reach it, use Maryland 155 west to Maryland 161 north to U.S 1 north; return to Interstate 95 via Maryland 273/Maryland 274 southeast). Interstate 95 utilizes a high-level six lane bridge over the Susquehanna River between Havre De Grace and Perryville in northeast Maryland. Known as the Millard J. Tidings Memorial Bridge, the span entails a $5.00 passenger toll for northbound motorists. The funds generated from the toll go toward the maintenance of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway section of Interstate 95. The toll plaza itself resides on the Perryville side of the bridge. Photos taken 12/18/07.

Exit 93 provides connections to the northwest Cecil County town of Rising Sun via Maryland 275 and 276 north. Maryland 222 intersects the south end of Maryland 275 nearby, with Maryland 275 (Perrylawn Drive) traveling 2.2 miles to Maryland 276 (Jacob Tome Memorial Highway) for its 5.2-mile drive to the Rising Sun area. Exit 93 entails a folded-diamond interchange between Interstate 95 and Maryland 222 (Perrylawn Drive) north of Perryville and southeast of Port Deposit. Maryland 222 represents former U.S. 222 between Maryland 7 in Perryville and U.S. 1 at Conowingo. Exit 93 also serves interests to the V.A. Two EZPass lanes are available on the left-side of the forthcoming toll plaza. EZPass only lanes are also located to the right, with all cash lanes doubling with EZPass capabilities Large trucks and permit loads must use the right-hand lanes. Departing the main line toll plaza, drivers quickly encounter the Exit 93 loop ramp to Maryland 222 (Perrylawn Drive). Maryland 222 travels 1.6 miles south to junction U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) in Perryville. Northward the state highway turns west at Maryland 275 for a descent into the Susquehanna River valley. Exit 93 leaves Interstate 95 northbound for Maryland 222 (former U.S. 222). Maryland 824 passes underneath the freeway nearby, representing an older alignment of U.S. 222 between Reservoir Road and junction Maryland 275. The Chesapeake House is the last Service Plaza for the Maryland section of the John F. Kennedy Highway. The facility features gas, food, and tourist information for the Interstate 95 traveler. The next exit along southbound Interstate 95/John F. Kennedy Highway is Exit 100, Junction Maryland 272 north to Rising Sun and Calvert and south to North East and Elk Neck. Unlike the exit on southbound, there is no cloverleaf feature to the exit in the northbound direction. The interchange was expanded in the southbound direction between 1998-2000 to incorporate new loop ramps and the southbound collector-distributor roadway. Use Maryland 272 south to reach Elk Neck State Park, which is a peninsula located between the northern Chesapeake Bay (near the Susquehanna River outflow into the bay) and the Elk River, which connects to the C&D (Chesapeake and Delaware) Canal that cuts across the First State. Exits 109A-B represent the final exit along Maryland's John F. Kennedy Highway. The Delaware Turnpike (also known as the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway) begins just east of this interchange upon crossing the state line. Unmentioned on any of the approach signs is the fact that a toll booth greets travelers entering the First State. This is the last exit before the toll plaza, so to avoid the toll, use Exits 109A-B to Maryland 279/Delaware 2 east or Maryland 279 south/U.S. 40 east. Photo taken 05/01/04.
