Virginia 161/Boulevard is a major north-south corridor through the western fringes of downtown Richmond. It heads south through Maymont Park and over the tolled Boulevard Bridge before reaching the James River Park and becoming Westover Hills Boulevard. Virginia 161 north follows the Boulevard north the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, the Virginia Historical Society, Monument Boulevard (former Virginia 418), the Arthur Ashe Center, and the Greybound Bus Station. The second exit along northbound Interstate 195 is Exit 1B, Junction Virginia 146 west to Virginia 76/Powhite Parkway south. The Powhite Parkway is a tolled facility that crosses the James River and provides a bypass route to U.S. 60 and U.S. 360 westbound as well as Virginia 150/Chippenham Parkway and Virginia 288/Southwest Bypass. From this exit, U.S. 33-250/Broad Street head northwest into the suburbs of Henrico County, while U.S. 33-250/Broad Street head southeast into downtown Richmond. U.S. 250 splits from U.S. 33 at the intersection of Broad Street and the Hancock Street/Harrison Street couplet. At that point, U.S. 33 downgrades into Virginia 33, and follows Leigh Street to depart the city. Interstate 195 South

Interstate 195 southbound reaches Virginia 6 (Patterson Avenue overpass). Departing ahead is the Exit 1B off-ramp to Cameron Street for Virginia 147 (Cary Street) and Grove Avenue. Virginia 147 splits between Main Street (eastbound) and Cary Street (westbound) through the downtown area of the city. Grove Avenue passes over Interstate 195 at the Cameron Street off-ramp.
