A small guide sign with simply "Beltway" is the first indication to northbound travelers of the forthcoming ramp. Photo taken 10/13/04.
Hazardous materials and other overweight and wide vehicle restrictions sign for the Interstate 895 Harbor Tunnel across the Patapsco River on the spur northbound. Vehicles not permitted through the twin-tubes can alternatively utilize Interstate 695 and the Francis Scott Key Bridge to cross the river and harbor. Photo taken 10/13/04.
The loop ramp onto Interstate 695 westbound carries Maryland 2 (Ritchie Highway) northbound motorists onto the beltway ahead of its interchange with Interstate 97 (Exit 4). Traffic not departing Interstate 895 Spur northbound for Interstate 695 Inner defaults onto Interstate 895 northbound into the Harbor Tunnel. There are no exits between the Spur merge onto Interstate 895 (1.7 miles) or before the toll plaza for the tubes themselves in 4.8 miles. All passenger cars are levied a $2.00 toll to drive through the 1.5-mile tunnel. Photos taken 10/13/04.

Interstate 895 Spur southbound partitions into two branches ("A" and "B") to directly connect both Interstate 97 and Maryland 2 (Richie Highway) in conjunction with the Baltimore Beltway (Interstate 695). Branch "A" links Interstate 895 Spur southbound directly with Interstate 97 en route to Glen Burnie, Annapolis, and Bowie. Maryland 170 (Belle Grove Road) passes under the four-lane freeway here. Photo taken 10/13/04.
