The airport loop follows Maryland 170/Aviation Boulevard north, Maryland 162/Aviation Boulevard southeast, and Maryland 176/Dorsey Road west. This shield assembly is placed just north of Interstate 195 along northbound Maryland 170. Photo taken 06/01/03.
This photo shows northbound Maryland 170 approaching the former car rental location for Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The car rental location has since been moved south, near the intersection of Maryland 170 and Maryland 995 and the CSX/MARC station. Photo taken 06/01/03.
Maryland 170 (Belle Grove Road) northbound draws to a close at the intersection of Potee Street, Hanover Street, Jack Street, and the Governor Ritchie Highway at the Baltimore cit line. Maryland 2 enters the scene from the south via the Ritchie Highway and continues past Belle Grove Road and Jack Street to the north via Potee Street and Hanover Street to Cherry Hill. Jack Street stems east through residential areas from Maryland 2 & 170. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Maryland 170 South
Maryland 170 (Belle Grove Road) begins and travels southwest from Maryland 2 (Ritchie Highway / Potee Street) at the Baltimore city line to junction Maryland 648 (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) at Pumphrey. Maryland 648 constitutes the original alignment of Maryland 3 between Carroll Park in south Baltimore to Glen Burnie. Maryland 170 follows Camp Meade Road southwest to junction Interstate 695 north (inner loop) and Linthicum. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Southbound on Camp Meade Road at junction Maryland 169 (Maple Road) in Linthicum. Maryland 169 comprises just 0.97 miles between Hammonds Ferry Road to the west and junction Maryland 648 (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) to the east. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Continuing southward to junction Maryland 162 (Aviation Boulevard) at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Camp Meade Road ends at Aviation Boulevard with Maryland 170 southbound turning west around the airport. Maryland 162 follows Aviation Boulevard east and south to junction Maryland 176 (Dorsey Road) and Interstate 97 at Glen Burnie. Maryland 162, 170, and 176 represent the signed Airport Loop around BWI Airport. Photo taken 10/10/04.

Maryland 170 enters the Airport Loop via Aviation Boulevard. Maryland 162 southbound begins and travels Aviation Boulevard 2.31 miles southeast to Maryland 175 (Dorsey Road) adjacent to the Exit 16 interchange of Interstate 97. Use Maryland 162 southbound for the nearby community of Ferndale as well as Glen Burnie. Photo taken 10/10/04.
The Airport Loop features small guide signs for its reassurance markers. Pictured here is the Maryland 170 southbound shield posted after its overtaking of Aviation Boulevard from Maryland 162. The loop constitutes a four-lane divided highway. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Maryland 170 meets Interstate 195 (Exit 1) via a six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange adjacent to the Baltimore-Washington International Airport terminal. Interstate 195 provides the main access point to the terminal from the nearby freeways of Interstate 95, Interstate 895, and Maryland 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) in addition to U.S. 1 (Washington Boulevard). Photo taken 10/10/04.
Maryland 170 (Aviation Boulevard) continues south through a partial-interchange with Stoney Run Road to junction Maryland 176 (Dorsey Road) at Harmans. Maryland 176 continues the Airport Loop east from Maryland 170 to Maryland 162 (Aviation Boulevard). The state highway meets Interstate 97 (Exit 15) adjacent to its eastern terminus at Maryland 648 (Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard) in Glen Burnie. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Span wire supported traffic signals govern the intersection of Maryland 170 (Aviation Boulevard) and Maryland 176 (Dorsey Road) at Harmans. Maryland 176 travels 5.68 miles west from Glen Burnie to a dead end near the Maryland 100 interchange with the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Maryland 295). Maryland 176 originally continued west to U.S. 1 (Washington Boulevard) near Waterloo. However with the completion of the Maryland 100 freeway, Maryland 176 was severed into two segments and thus the state highway was truncated. Maryland 103 travels over the portion of former Maryland 176 west of Maryland 295. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Maryland 170 follows Telegraph Road south from Maryland 176 (Dorsey Road) and the Airport Loop. Telegraph Road interchanges with the Maryland 100 freeway nearby at Exit 11. Maryland 100 constitutes a 22-mile long limited-access highway between U.S. 29 near Ellicott City and Maryland 177 (Mountain Road) near Lake Shore. A Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) facilitates the movements between the two state highways. Photo taken 10/10/04.
Maryland 170 (Telegraph Road) enters its SPUI with Maryland 100 (Exit 11). Maryland 100 meets Interstate 97 two miles to the east for traffic interests south to Annapolis. The freeway turns northwest and interchanges with Maryland 295 in two miles and Interstate 95 in five miles. Telegraph Road continues Maryland 170 southward to Severn and Odenton.
