Interstate 77 North

U.S. 40 (Wheeling Avenue & East Pike Road) travels through downtown Cambridge with U.S. 22 just west of Interstate 77. The federal highway intersects Interstate 77 at the Exit 46A/B partial-cloverleaf interchange east of town at Sunnymeade. Photo taken 10/15/04.
Exit 46A leaves Interstate 77 northbound for U.S. 40 (East Pike Road) eastbound to Old Washington. U.S. 40, better known as the National Road through Ohio, parallels Interstate 70 throughout most of its routing throughout the Buckeye State. The federal highway intersects Ohio 285 (Wintergreen Road) at Old Washington 6.6 miles to the east before merging onto Interstate 70 at Exit 186. Photo taken 10/15/04.

From there the two highways share pavement 2.7 miles along Wheeling Avenue, Dewey Avenue, Glenn between their merge and Ohio 723. Highway Photo taken 10/15/04.
Northbound Interstate 77 at Exit 122B, Interstate 277 and U.S. 224 westbound. This is a left exit. This interchange between Interstates 77 and 277 is fashioned similarly to the California 15 and California 94 interchange in San Diego, except that this interchange permits movements in all directions. Photo taken 5/21/02.
Northbound Interstate 77 approaching Exit 123B, Ohio 764, one-half mile. Photo taken 5/21/02.
Northbound Interstate 77 approaching Exit 123B, Ohio 764. The companion sign indicates that Interstate 76 is the next exit. Photo taken 5/21/02.

Northbound Interstate 77 transition ramp onto Interstate 76 east and west. As noted earlier, Ohio 8 takes over the through freeway route northbound, but Interstate 77 northbound exits off itself to merge onto westbound Interstate 76. Photo taken 5/21/02.
Northbound Interstate 77 approaching Exit 158 (Grant Avenue and Cuyahoga Heights), three-quarters of a mile. Photo taken 5/25/02.

Northbound Interstate 77 at Junction Interstate 490 westbound and East 55th Street. The ramp to East 55th Street leads to the end of the Interstate 490 freeway. If Interstate 490 were to be extended east from this point, it would continue from East 55th Street. However, such an extension is very unlikely, even if it were to mitigate a possible reconstruction or closure of Interstate 90 along the lakeshore. Photo taken 5/25/02.
Northbound Interstate 77 approaching Exit 162A, Woodland Avenue/East 30th Street, one-half mile. This overhead sign points to the end of Interstate 77 approaching in two miles in typical Ohio fashion. There are no "END Interstate 77" shields, and this is the only notification motorists get that Interstate 77 is about to end. Traffic must take either Interstate 90 or enter downtown Cleveland, perhaps via 9th Street. Photo taken 5/25/02.
