Looking southward at the end of the Pennsylvania 43 Turnpike from the Gans Road overpass in southern Fayette County. The turnpike ends prematurely due to the lack of a connection to Interstate 68 via the West Virginia portion of the turnpike. At present to make the connection from Interstate 68 and the state of West Virginia to Pennsylvania Turnpike 43, traffic must utilize State Secondary 857 northward from Exit 10 to Pennsylvania 857 (Morgantown Road). Gans Road eastbound descends to its end at junction Pennsylvania 857 (Morgantown Road). A one mile drive carries drivers into West Virginia to the right. There Pennsylvania 857 transitions into West Virginia State Secondary 857 en route to Interstate 68 (Exit 10). The city of Morgantown lies 13 miles to the west. Photo taken 08/07/04.
