The loop follows the original alignment of U.S. 287 through Corsicana as the federal highway follows Interstate 45 east of town. The route comprises a four-lane highway with a short viaduct over Texas 31 (7th Avenue / Martin Luther King Boulevard) in the heart of town. Business Loop Interstate 45 ascends over Texas 31 (7th Avenue) and the Southern Pacific Railroad line between 5th and 12th Avenues.
