Interstate 37 South
Looking southwest at the downtown core and skyline of San Antonio from Interstate 37/U.S. 281 southbound. The building in the center is that of the Weston Centre office center. Photo taken 12/31/02.
The first mainline exit of Interstate 37 southbound is Exit 141C to Nolan Street and Mc Collough Avenue. Four through lanes are maintained through the downtown area on southbound. Photo taken 12/31/02.
There are four southbound off-ramps in the immediate area of downtown San Antonio. This photograph looks at the second being Exit 141B to Houston Street and The Alamo. Both Houston and Commerce Streets travel eastward from downtown to Interstate 10/U.S. 90 at Exit 579. Photo taken 12/31/02.
The Commerce Street exit also serves Saint Paul Square and the downtown Amtrak Station. The central business district itself can be seen to the southwest (right). Photo taken 12/31/02.
With traffic from Market Street merging from the right, Interstate 37/U.S. 281 southbound passes the Alamodome and sees one-half mile guide signage for Exit 140A. Photo taken 12/31/02.
The southbound Exit 140B ramp to Durango Boulevard and the Alamodome. This sign bridge also has the first mentioning of the Exit 139 interchange with Interstate 10. Photo taken 12/31/02.

Button copy signage remains for the one-mile guide sign of Exit 139 on Interstate 37/U.S. 281 southbound. The Interstate 10 corridor is heavily developed to the northwest but sparsely developed to the east. Photo taken 12/31/02.
Interstate 37/U.S. 281 southbound, one-half mile north of Interstate 10/U.S. 87/90/Exit 139. U.S. 90 splits for good from Interstate 10 two miles to the west at Interstate 35. The highway continues as a full freeway to the C.W. Anderson Loop near Lackland A.F.B. Eastward Interstate 10 and U.S. 90 intermingle all the way to the city of Jacksonville, Florida. Photo taken 12/31/02.
Two lanes are also allocated for Interstate 10/Exit 139 on Interstate 37 southbound the way they are for northbound. U.S. 87 splits with Interstate 10 just three miles to the east at Rigsby Avenue. Photo taken 12/31/02.
Interstate 37/U.S. 281 southbound at Exit 139/Interstate 10/U.S. 87/90. The button copy signage on this sign bridge includes Rio Grande Valley as a southbound control point for Interstate 37/U.S. 281. This distinction is intended for U.S. 281 as it travels to both McAllen and Brownsville. Photo taken 12/31/02.
