| The original IH-10/IH-410 interchange opened in 1960 as a simple two-level interchange. The series of photos show interchange reconstruction to a five level interchange. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| The high bridges are clearly visible for the new interchange. Meanwhile, the wide median (for left-hand exits) still exists, with the exits removed. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Now east of IH-10, the high connecting ramps from IH-10 south to IH-410 east can be seen in this picture. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Completely past the interchange, the next exits are 17B for Vance Jackson Road and 18 for Jackson-Keller Road. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Use exit 19 to reach Castle Hills. The next exit serves Spur 537, San Pedro Ave. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| The frontage road divides, requiring a left exit to stay on IH-410’s frontage or to reach FM (UR) 1535. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Advance signage for exit 20, San Pedro Ave and Spur 537. Notice the Yellow arrow as a cautionary arrow, to move out of the right lane due to congestion. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Just before San Pedro Ave, IH-410 leaves Castle Hills and re-enters San Antonio. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| Exit 20 serves San Pedro Ave. Before the construction of the US 281 expressway in 1978, San Pedro Avenue was US 281. Due to the lack of an interchange at US 281, traffic destined for US 281 north must use San Pedro Avenue to reach US 281 north. The short section of San Pedro Ave is designated Spur 537. | This photo shows the columns for the future connectors between IH-410 and US 281. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| An interchange was never constructed between IH-410 and US 281 because of litigation and delays, causing the release of land that was needed for the interchange. Construction began on the interchange in 2002, 24 years after the completion of the US 281 expressway. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| Eastbound Interstate 410 at Exit 22/Broadway, near San Antonio International Airport. While Broadway represents the original U.S. 81 in downtown San Antonio, it is just a local arterial highway in the northern parts of the city. Photo taken 12/31/02.
| The on-ramp from Exit 22/Broadway enters from the right as Interstate 410 progresses eastward to Windcrest and Interstate 35. Interstate 410 maintains a frontage road system throughout its routing. Photo taken 12/31/02.
| Exit 23 for Nacogdoches Road departs the San Antonio beltway eastbound. Nacogdoches Road parallels Interstate 35 from Garden Ridge northeast of the city to Alamo Heights and U.S. 281 to the southwest. Photo taken 12/31/02.

| Advance signage for exit 25B, FM (UR) 2252, Perrin-Beitel Road. The state highway eventually merges on the aforementioned Nacogdoches Road as it treks northeastward to Garden Ridge and Schertz. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| FM (UR) 2252 travels northeast to FM 482. Notice the lane distribution for IH-410 and how thru traffic on IH-410 must exit IH-35 south. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| Advance signage for exit 26A, Loop 368 serving South Alamo Heights. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| Here’s where things get complicated. Loop 368 is former US 81. Thru traffic is shunted to IH-35 north while thru traffic on IH-410 south must exit, using the IH-35 south ramp, to IH-35 to continue on IH-410. This design dates back to the original construction of Loop 13 which predates IH-410. Photo taken February 18, 2006.

| An interesting mix of reflective and non-reflective signs are seen here at exit 26B, Interchange Parkway and Perrin Dr. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| Interstate 410 eastbound merges with Interstate 35 southbound and shifts its cardinal direction from east to south. The interchange between the two features flyover ramps above, but a rather substandard lone ramp for the Interstate 410 east mainline (see next photo). The exit to Randolph Boulevard for Windcrest is the first off-ramp for Interstate 35 northbound departing motorists. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| This exit holds the mainline lane of IH-410 southbound. This interchange is now considered outmoded, and a new interchange is in the planning stages. Photo taken February 18, 2006.
| Throw a railroad overpass in for good measure to complicate the Interstate 35/410 interchange even more. Yet the "mainline" of Interstate 410 features this substandard 25 MPH ramp onto Interstate 35 southbound, reflecting the original design of Loop 13. Photo taken 12/31/02.
