Miscellaneous Highway Photos

Photographs taken from around the state that do not fit anywhere otherwise.

Interstate 30
Interstate 35E peels away from Interstate 30 in the vicinity of downtown Dallas during the mid afternoon rush hour. Situated nearby is the northern terminus of Interstate 45 as the sign bridge to the left suggests. In between are various exits into the downtown area such as Interstate 30 Exit 41 to Lamar and Griffin Streets. Photo taken 01/15/96.
Interstate 35E
Interstate 35E southbound at the Commerce Street and Reunion Arena off-ramp, just north of the intermingling with Interstate 30 at downtown Dallas. Exit 428A takes traffic onto Interstate 30 eastbound to Mesquite, Garland, and Texarkana. Exit 428D turns motorists onto the old Dallas/Fort Worth Turnpike, Interstate 30 westbound to Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Fort Worth. Photo taken 01/15/96.
Approaching the Woodall Rogers Freeway/Exit 429A on Interstate 35E southbound at the Commerce Street West exit. The Woodall Rogers is a short connector freeway between Interstate 35E and the northern terminus if unsigned Interstate 345, U.S. 75. The highway gives an alternate to Interstate 45 southbound motorists in lieu of Interstate 35E south to Interstate 30 east. Photo taken 01/15/96.
Shifting to northwest Dallas is this sign bridge and scene on Interstate 35E southbound at Exit 440B/Interstate 635 west. Interstate 635 represents the partial beltway of the city of Dallas. It spurs westward from the northern junction with Interstate 35E to Texas 121 near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Photo taken 01/15/96.
Interstate 40
Westbound Interstate 40 at Business Loop 40/Historic U.S. 66 at the Texas Panhandle town of Mclean. This interchange is 70 miles outside of Amarillo. Photo taken by Mikiee Bernardo (06/00).

Addison Airport Toll Tunnel
Midway Road northbound at Keller Springs Road within the city of Addison. Keller Springs Road travels east into the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel beyond its intersection with Midway Road. The tunnel descends below the airport runways between Keller Springs Road and Addison Road, with Midway Road continuing east to the Dallas North Tollway. Photos taken 10/21/03.
A look at the Addison Airport Toll Tunnel toll plaza along Keller Springs Road eastbound. Toll rates are set at 50 cents for all passenger vehicles. Photo taken 10/21/03.
Drivers descend into the two-lane Addiston Airport Tunnel beyond the toll plaza. The tube travels 1,600 feet underground and opened in February 1999.1 Photo taken 10/21/03.
Texas Ranch to Market Road 479
Texas Ranch to Market Road 479 intersects U.S. 290 in the middle of the proverbial nowhere. The highway travels from Interstate 10 at Exit 492 northward to the federal highway within five miles of the village of Harper. This U-shaped sign post is standard for a Texas intersection or interchange. Photo taken 12/31/02.
A look at the northbound Texas Farm to Market Road 479 reassurance shield visible in the background of the above photograph. The yellow advisory sign in the background indicates that the road is subject to stream crossings for the next 21 miles. The terrain and sandy soil allows for fast run-offs during heavy rain events. Therefore motorists are urged caution on these desert like roadways. Photo taken 12/31/02.
