Paris Region @ LoneStarRoads

This part of northeast Texas is very rural and features more Cotton Gins than McDonald's. The area is hilly with many acres of cotton, corn, and cattle. Paris is a regional center while nearby Dallas provides most of the region's services and media.

US 82
US 82 forms the "main drag" of Texas' beautiful Red River Valley. For most of it's length through eastern Fannin and Lamar County, US 82 is a hilly two lane highway.
US 82 eastbound approaching FM 100 and SH 34 in Honey Grove. Honey Grove is a small community in the cotton growing region of eastern Fannin County.
US 82 briefly becomes a Super-2 freeway through Honey Grove. This exit marks the northern end of SH 34, which continues southward to I-30.
Just east of Honey Grove, US 82 enters Lamar County. This new county line sign features the Clearview font, which TxDot is adopting very quickly on all new directional signs.
US 82 passes green fields, barns, and cows on it's way eastward to Paris.
At Petty, US 82 meets FM 137. This new style of directional sign has the Clearview font as well, as is popping up all along Texas highways.

The next intersection along US 82 is with FM 38, this FM road serves farming communities to the north.
Traffic picks up along US 82 as it approaches Paris. FM 1510 marks the main intersection of the community of Toco.
The road remains rural until it reaches Loop 286 in Paris. Little warning is given of the interchange prior to reaching it.
Signs warn drivers carrying hazardous material to use the Paris Loop. US 82 continues eastward through Paris, eventually reaching Texarkana.
SH 19/24
SH 19/24 is the main route from Paris southward to the regional centers of Greenville and Dallas. For it's entire multiplex, the road is 4 lanes and divided. SH 19/24 is part of a larger regional route system from Dallas to Ft. Smith and Northwestern Arkansas.
This view looks northbound along SH 19/24 in Delta County. The road was upgraded in the 1990s and serves a large amount of heavy truck traffic.
SH 19/24 northbound at the North Sulphur River and the Lamar County Line.
SH 19/24 southbound splits north of Cooper. SH 24 runs southward to I-30 at Commerce, while SH 19 runs southward to I-30 at Sulphur Springs and eventually to I-45 at Huntsville.
SH 34
This photo is an eastbound view of SH 34 northbound at SH 50's northern end in Ladonia. SH 50 runs southward from here to Commerce and I-30.
This view looks westbound at the same intersection in Ladonia. SH 50 used to continue as a multiplex to SH 34's northern end at US 82 in Honey Grove, but was shortended in 2004 to end in Ladonia, as the multiplex was deemed unnecessary.
SH 34 continues westward from Ladonia through hilly cattle farming country to the town of Wolfe City, where it meets SH 11. SH 11 bypasses Wolfe City and is an important northeast Texas route, it connects I-30 with Sherman and Linden in Cass County.
SH 34 runs through downtown Wolfe City, meeting FM 816 and FM 1563. These FM roads form the town's main street, and were signed as SH 11 until the bypass was built in the 1960s.
SH 24 Business
SH 24 bypasses the small town of Cooper, which is the county seat of Delta County. While the bypass is 4 lanes and divded, SH 24 business uses the old state highway route through downtown Cooper. This view looks northbound on SH 24 business at it's intersection with FM 64.
This view looks northward on SH 24 business at it's intersection with SH 154 in downtown Cooper. SH 154 is a 120 mile state road that runs all the way southeastward to I-20 at Marshall.
FM 64
FM 64 begins at SH 24 business in Cooper and connects the farming communities to the west. It is the main route from Delta County westward. This photo looks westward on FM 64 at the SH 24 bypass of Cooper.
This region of Texas has a well developed FM system, this view looks westward on FM 64 at FM 128, which continues eastward to the small community of Ben Franklin.
FM 64 continues westward to the tiny town of Pecan Gap. With a population of about 300, Pecan Gap is the second largest community in Delta County.
This view looks east along FM 64 at it's intersection with FM 904. FM 904 is a north/south FM road that connects rural parts of Hunt, Delta and Fannin Counties with US 82 near Honey Grove.
