This view looks north along SH 6/Loop 340 just east of IH 35. The whole route is currently being upgraded, with a new stack at IH 35 which opened in late 2007. There is a short section around the US 77 interchange that is not yet a freeway. Photo taken 10/23/07.

Reassurance markers for SH 6 / Loop 340 just past Old Robinson Road. The loop was built in the late 1950s as a bypass for Waco, and to relieve traffic on US 77 which bore the brunt of regional traffic before IH 35 was built through Waco in 1967. Photo taken 10/23/07.
SH 6 northbound at US 77 southbound. US 77 runs southward through Robinson and Cameron and eventually ends up in the Rio Grande Valley. Most of the route is a bucolic, rural 2 lane highway with very little traffic. Photo taken 10/23/07.
SH 6 northbound at the loop ramp for US 77 northbound. Motorists wishing to get to IH 35 can go north on US 77 and hit the interstate almost immediately. The cloverleaf interchange here is of a fairly old design and has tight, non-circular ramps. Photo taken 10/23/07.
Another southbound reassurance marker past US 77. Although this portion of SH 6 is headed northbound, the general direction of this route will soon trend to the south. SH 6 is one of Texas' most important state highways, and connects Oklahoma with the gulf coast near Galveston. Photo taken 10/23/07.
The freeway portion of this route opened in 2006, the first exit headed north is 12th St. Excellent overhead lighting at the interchange means that the guide sign is obscured. Photo taken 10/23/07.

After merging the 4 lanes into 2, the road flies over the beautiful Brazos River. The Brazos runs through Waco and eventually south into the Gulf at Freeport. Photo taken 10/23/07.
