Three Business Routes serve Interstate 70 motorists on the 232.15-mile drive across the state of Utah. They are Business Loop I-70 in Richfield, Business Spur I-70 into Salina, and Business Loop I-70 at Green River.
Business Loop I-70 - Richfield
The Richfield business loop is routed along with Utah 120 along 1200 South and Main Street through the Sevier County seat. This loop is signed as "To Interstate 70 and U.S. 89" but is not signed with any green business loop shields on the business loop itself. The guide signs at the interchanges with Interstate 70 and U.S. 89 (Exits 37 and 40) both have green shields.
Business Loop I-70 east and Utah 120/West 1300 South north
Business Loop I-70 east and Utah 120 north follow West 1300 South between Interstate 70 and Main Street. At Main Street, Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120 will join with Utah 118 (S. Main Street) north toward downtown Richfield. Utah 118 is the original U.S. 89 alignment through Richfield. Utah 118 is hardly signed along the stretch of Main Street it shares with Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120. (Utah 120 follows the business route through town and is not particularly well-signed either; the most common signage are trailblazers to Interstate 70 and U.S. 89). Photo taken 10/18/04.
Business Loop I-70 east and Utah 118-120/Main Street north
The business loop turns northward onto Main Street at Utah 118. Utah 118 continues S. Main Street to Richfield Municipal Airport, Jensen, Nibley, and Elsinore. The city of Richfield is the seat of Sevier County, had a population of 7,551 as of 2010 Census, and sits at an elevation of 5,354 feet above sea level. Photo taken 10/18/04.

One block south of the Utah 118 (300 North) northbound split from Main Street at 200 North. An Interstate 70 trailblazer directs motorists to continue northward on the business loop to the diamond interchange at Exit 40. Photo taken 10/18/04.
Utah 118 continues the original alignment of U.S. 89 by turning eastward (right) onto 300 North from Business Loop I-70 east and Utah 120 north (Main Street). Utah 118 ventures northeast to Gramse, Kema, and Sigurd. Photo taken 10/18/04.
Business Loop I-70 east and Utah 120/Main Street north
An Interstate 70 and U.S. 89 trailblazer sign assembly (seen in the previous photograph) is posted along northbound Utah 120 and Business Loop I-70 after the Utah 118 north intersection in Richfield. Photo taken 07/31/09 by Landry Heaton.
Continuing north, Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120/Main Street kinks northeast at Robinson Lane just prior to the junction with Interstate 70 and U.S. 89. Photo taken 10/18/04.
These views show the Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120 north interchange with Interstate 70 at Exit 40. Eastbound travelers continue 14 miles to Salina and the split with U.S. 89. Interstate 70 west and U.S. 89 south see Las Vegas as the destination of choice for the freeway connection with Interstate 15 at Cove Fort. U.S. 89 south departs the freeway in 17 miles. Photos taken 10/18/04.
Business Loop I-70 west and Utah 120/Main Street south
We begin by following Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120/Main Street south from the Interstate 70 interchange. Here, the ramp connects to Interstate 70 east and U.S. 89 north to Salina and Green River. Photo taken 08/14/10.
Business Loop I-70 follows Utah 120 through the city of Richfield (population 7,551 as of 2010 Census and elevation 5,354 feet above sea level), departing at Exit 40 and returning at Exit 37. The business route takes Main Street south into downtown, merges with Utah 118 (former U.S. 89), and reconnects to Interstate 70 via West 1300 South. Photo taken 08/14/10.
Entering downtown Richfield, westbound Business Loop I-70 and southbound Utah 120/Main Street approach their junction with Utah 118/East 300 North. Utah 118, which is old U.S. 89, travels east out of downtown, then splits with Utah 119/Glenwood Road. Utah 119 travels east to join with Utah 24 en route to Capitol Reef National Park. Photo taken 08/14/10.
Westbound Business Loop I-70 and southbound Utah 120/Main Street meet Utah 118/East 300 North. Ahead, Business Loop I-70, Utah 118, and Utah 120 all share pavement to leave downtown. Photo taken 08/14/10.
Business Loop I-70 west and Utah 118-120/Main Street south
Suspended above Main Street is this Interstate 70 trailblazer. There are no business loop shields along Main Street, but a sole Utah 120 shield is posted just south of the Utah 118/East 300 North intersection. Photo taken 08/14/10.

The business loop sees more open space and the mountains in the distance as development lessens. The next traffic signal ahead is with 800 South. Photo taken 08/15/10.
A Utah 120 reassurance route marker is posted after 800 South, but neither Utah 118 nor Business Loop I-70 are acknowledged. An Interstate 70 trailblazer (To Interstate 70) would be appropriate here, since we are nearing the turnoff to return to Interstate 70. Photo taken 08/15/10.
Westbound Business Loop I-70 and southbound Utah 118-120/Main Street approach 1100 South. A guide sign advises that traffic for Interstate 70 should turn right at the second traffic signal (to 1300 South). It is implied that Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120 turn right onto 1300 South. After College Avenue, westbound Business Loop I-70 and southbound Utah 120 approach the interchange with Interstate 70 and U.S. 89. At this point, West 1300 South is traveling almost due west. Photo taken 08/15/10.
This sign advises traffic bound for Elsinore to take Interstate 70 west and U.S. 89 south, while traffic bound for Salina should turn right here for Interstate 70 east and U.S. 89 north. Photo taken 08/15/10.
Both Interstate 70 and U.S. 89 are signed at the southern Richfield interchange. Interstate 70 and U.S. 89 travel north to Salina, then split. U.S. 89 proceeds north to Spanish Fork, Provo, and Salt Lake City. Interstate 70 curves east toward the San Rafael Swell, then approaches Green River. From there, Interstate 70 travels east to Grand Junction, Vail, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Baltimore. Photo taken 08/15/10.

U.S. 89 ultimately ends in Flagstaff, where through traffic can connect to Interstate 17 south to Phoenix. Photo taken 08/15/10.
Business Loop I-70 and Utah 120 end as we reach the onramp to Interstate 70 west and U.S. 89 south. This guide sign advises of a control city of Las Vegas via Interstate 70 west and Interstate 15 south. Photo taken 08/15/10.
A final Interstate 70 and U.S. 89 trailblazer shield assembly is posted next to the freeway entrance sign. Photo taken 08/15/10.

Otherwise no gas, food, or lodging establishments exist between Exit 56 (Salina) and Green River (Exit 158). Photo taken 10/18/04.
