Colorado 35

Colorado 35 is the short state highway connecting Interstate 70 and Interstate 270 along Quebec Street in Denver. It was formerly a longer route, serving former Stapleton International Airport. With the closure of the airport, Colorado 35 was curtailed to act as a connector between Interstate 70 and Interstate 270.

Most of these pictures were taken on the expressway section of Quebec Street (former Colorado 35) between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Interstate 70.

Former Colorado 35/Quebec Street - North
The location of the first shield for northbound Colorado 35 is here, but apparently highway crews removed only the shields and not the banners in their haste to decommission this stretch of Colorado 35. This picture is taken along northbound Quebec Street after Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Photo taken 11/10/03.

Northbound Quebec Street/former Colorado 35 at Junction Interstate 70. This marks the southern terminus of Colorado 35, which continues north to meet Interstate 270 a short distance from here. Photo taken 11/10/03.
Former Colorado 35/Quebec Street - South
Southbound Quebec Street/former Colorado 35 approaching Smith Road. The hotel on the right (west) side of the street was in place back when this was the main route into the former airport, but it has taken on a different role since the airport was relocated to Denver International Airport. This sign bridge, located on southbound Quebec Street/former Colorado 35 used to carry signage for Stapleton International Airport until it was closed in the 1990s. Photo taken 11/10/03.
