There is in fact a road that goes up there. Is it a good road? No, no it is not.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079326A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079326.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n One of the better sections of the road from highway 64\/87 up to the top of the mountain.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079297A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079297.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n Just to get things started off correctly, first we get eaten by cows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079313A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079313.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n The communications towers at the top of Sierra Grande. I didn&#8217;t take any pictures on the way up because we were going south and therefore into the sun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079311A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079311.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n Pikes Peak, about 150 miles away. Dale says this is the clearest day he&#8217;s ever had up on top of Sierra Grande.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079316A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079316.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n The Sangre del Cristo mountains, a far more reasonable 75 miles to the west.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079323A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079323.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n We start back down the hill. Well, there&#8217;s Capulin Volcano &#8211; and somewhere in the foreground there is a road. Really.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079324A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079324.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n There we are, much better. Only 30% downhill grade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079340A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079340.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n Almost down. The entire road is about four miles long, and takes an hour to drive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079358A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079358.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n A large herd of antelope. By exact count: 27 antelope. And two impostors on the right.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/DSC_079349A.jpg\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.aaroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog_images\/jake\/photos\/079349.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n We end our day by getting eaten by cows again. Probably the same cows.
