Quote from: Rothman on June 11, 2025, 06:26:46 PMI think I'm the only "Sloop John B" fan left out there.

In 2006, I had to spend a month in the Trenton area for a business trip. Two colleagues and I adopted that as our anthem while we were there.

Quote from: Bobby5280 on June 11, 2025, 10:50:15 PMThis is kind of a rough week for classic rock/pop music. Sly Stone passed away a couple days ago and now Brian Wilson. It makes me worried about that tragedies come in threes thing. What other legend are we going to lose this week?

Both of them were 82 years old. Paul McCartney needs to exercise due care between now and next Wednesday!

Quote from: Rothman on June 11, 2025, 10:55:23 PMAt this point, it's not like boomer deaths are to be unexpected.  Sure, it's sad that these icons are passing away, but it's also their time, so to speak.
He was part of the Silent Generation though

Well, okay.  I would think that the fact that he was even older by a couple of years of the oldest boomers would only further my point.

Which is against the MUTCD.

Quote from: kphoger on June 11, 2025, 12:45:01 PMNational Boards ► General Highway Talk ► FHWA Series Gwould this make I-11 and US-11 shields look better?

There actually was such a thing—sort of. The pre-1948 square fonts could have course be much more easily widened than the round fonts. There was never a federal specification for Series G, but there were indeed a few signs here and there which used a font wider than Series F by the same amount Series F is wider than Series E.

It probably wouldn't have helped with US 11 signs, though, since the 1s don't really change that much from series to series. (And the best thing one can do with an I-11 sign is space the digits further apart than the default kerning table specifies.)

So what you're saying is it's a factoid.

The I-90 Schoharie Creek bridge collapse in Fort Hunter, NY had I-90 redirected onto NY 5S and 5S redirected onto an old railroad bridge.
