Marin Avenue in Berkeley is claimed to be the steepest street in the San Francisco Bay Area, at 25% for several blocks.

https://john-s-allen.com/galleries/berkeley/slides/00Marin%20Ave.html

I've driven it both up and down as well as being a passenger when I was a kid.  Calls for care and good control of the clutch - partly because as it's not in the mountains there's also other traffic, pedestrians, and cross streets to keep in mind.  There have been a fair number of accidents there too.  (It can't really be that bad, can it?  Let's see.  CRASH.)

24% descent grades are for pussies:

Quote from: MultiMillionMiler on November 26, 2022, 12:48:04 PM
Of course I do LOL

But 24% isn't that bad. Some of my I-9/I-11/New Pennsylvania Turnpike plans would involve slightly steeper grades to maintain a straight line through the mountains.
Illinois can dream to have even a small fraction of that.  :-D

Well one benefit of being in a relationship is that the girl can help balance out the weight distribution in the car when taking on one of those sharp Pennsylvania Turnpike curves to the right.

I get that MMM's posts are... MMM posts, but maybe we should try not to turn this thread completely into an extension of his Fictional thread.  ;-)

Here's a good one from my Avenue of the Breadsticks thread:
Quote from: skluth on November 19, 2022, 07:25:26 PM
Breadsticks are planted in the median and harvested when ripe to be distributed to all the Olive Gardens along the route. Restoring the breadstick to its native prairie environment has been ongoing since the late 70s and it's hoped that soon the wild breadstick will once again be seen across the Midwest from Montana to the Appalachians.

So THAT's why I've never been picked?

Seriously, I've volunteered several times. I'd think my participation in the interest since the early days of MTR and my journalism/PR background would make me a logical candidate, but I know it's not going to happen because of the existing team's personal feelings about me and many of the prevailing opinions on free speech vs. my opinion on the subject.

We have very different political views but I think that you would be a great pick for a moderator. I would support you in a bid to become a mod because I like when mods are a bit more hands off.

It has always sounded to me, based upon his personal opinions of the matter, that if H.B. had moderation rights, he would do the same amount of moderation that he does now.

I trimmed the quote for comedic effect, but earlier in the post he does say that his brain expands "Gd" to "Goddamn" rather than "Grand". (Which, I think is a fair misinterpretation. I tend to expand it to "Good" myself, but I've only spent a few days in Michigan.)

I've always automatically knew it meant Grand. Heck they have Mackinac Br as a control city on US-127 and I-75 and when they use the word downtown they capitalize every letter so it says DOWNTOWN.
