Many speed limits need to be raised on straight roads, and many need to be lowered on curvy roads (like the Garden State Parkway, it is shocking how they think so many of those curves can safely handle 65)

Yeah, good point. Other countries don't have curves.

130 km/h is by far the most common 'default' motorway speed limit in Europe.
no speed limit: 1 country
140 km/h: 3 countries
130 km/h: 20 countries
120 km/h: 6 countries
113 km/h: 1 country (70 mph in the UK)
110 km/h: 4 countries
no motorways: 9 countries
unclear: Moldova
Kazakhstan, which is geographically partially in Europe, has a 140 km/h speed limit, but there are no motorways in the European part of Kazakhstan. The other 140 km/h countries are Poland, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Yes, it is more common. But I still say 11 countries are "plenty of countries". The entire Iberian peninsula, Sweden, Norway, Finland—they're hardly nothing.

This thread might be the first time I’ve ever seen someone praise Italian drivers.
