Can you name the American states by their state route markers?

I can name the 30 that they ask me to!  It would be tough to differentiate Mass. from Maine, though.  But I'm surprised they didn't ask for, say, Hawaii or Oregon.

26 seconds.  could probably do it faster if I could type the state abbreviations.

Somehow I think this would've been crueler if New Jersey or Kentucky were one of the states. :)

Two minutes and 15 seconds (I miscounted my original figure based on 5 minutes rather than 6!).  Got stumped on Arkansas and Georgia for a bit, but then got them.

A minute 18.  Spelled out in full, and spelled correctly.

Darnit, I didn't look at how long it took me. But I finished it. Fairly quickly, I think.

48 seconds. I need a larger monitor so I didn't have to wait for the bottom ones to pop up on top

Also- I'm amazed thus far that only 15% know what California looks like and 13% know what New York looks like. People tend to know everything about those states.

I can get about 13 without cheating, most of which are states I've been to so I recognise the symbol. Some like Kansas I know because members have them as their avatar.

My vertical resolution is 1050 and it fills about 2/3 of the screen.

I got all of them and took 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.  (I type slow...)  :banghead:

1:11. Lost time due to misspelling "Pennsylvania" at first and having to hit the backspace button to correct it...
This is cu2010, reminding you, help control the ugly sign population, don't have your shields spayed or neutered.

Found it too easy, but typing the entire state name was a bit annoying.

This was more like an accuracy/speed typing test than a road shield quiz for most of us, I have a feeling.

1:30 for 30/30.

And yeah, that's the problem with Sporcle. It's as much a test of how fast and how accurately you can type as it is a test of how much you know.

EDIT: Redid it in 1:22
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

All I care about is whether I get them right or not.

1:13, with a split-second stump on ND and typing in NY instead of PA for the first one (because someone said how people didn't recognize NY or CA route signs and that's what was in my mind, ha ha).

Edit:  :-D at FL being 95.9% recognized. Who were the 4.1% who didn't get it??
So many roads...so little time.

52 seconds... i don't even think it's possible to do it in 26 like Jake claims.  Even if you can type more than one word a second (and I can easily do that), there's time to visually process the shield first!

there is a preview.  the signs come in order.

I just got a 27, which is pretty sad since it's the exact same signs as the first time around.

If you have a large enough monitor, you should be able to see all the shields simultaneously, which gives you time to process the next one before you finish typing the current one, so the typing can be nonstop

Quick test with larger monitor dropped me from 48 to 40- I did make a couple typos, but not 14 seconds worth, and I'm pretty damn fast. Good job, Jake!

TheStranger

Small monitor here, but got into 55 seconds.  Not bad!

I think this would be a bit more challenging if there was no marker preview AND the shield order changed with refreshes.

just got 21 seconds but I've memorized it by now.

helps that I have to type state names all the time just for AARoads-related stuff.

I'm personally surprised how South Carolina is at 68.6% recognizable considering that its shield is only a couple of years old.  I guess people can remember changes in a square easily  :-D
