There's been lots of new poo on the local Roads Scholaring front the past couple weeks, so here's 5 batches of scholaring photos and videos for you.

From the north side of town, there's this great set, featuring those abandoned rowhouses:

From Covington, there's this bit of fun:

Peep and weep at this northern Kentucky set that's heavy in alleys:

From Opening Day, there's this set from downtown, where actual live celebs meet actual live roads:

And finally, feast your peepers on the most recent set - from Cincinnati's east side, featuring an amazing urban prairie:

That'll be all.
Might as well face it, pooing is cool

the truck US 50 shield is mid- or late 1960s.

I am trying to figure out when states first used the black-square shield, but I cannot pin down a concrete example from before 1961 (which is when the feds introduced it).  Before that, shields in that context were the white square, or a cutout with just the number.

Ohio used the cutout with just a number, and when the black square was introduced, they used a variant with an extra inner border.

I've seen several examples of them using the white square, but it seemed to not be a long-lasting variant.  (See state route shield in background here.)

A better example.  Note the double border.

I have photos of block-font white-square US shields from as long ago as 1946 (predating the 1948 federal standard, and I have heard they introduced it in 1943) but they are not yet online because I have motivation issues and/or I have to go to the place of the small green slips of paper.

This is one of the coolest things I've seen sign-wise, from your latest update.
