TIL that MN 43 has a multiplex with I-90 which I've been on. So I'm actually at 47.

Still at 47 after finishing my initial data entry and edits. 47 and 68 are my only numbers under 100 not traveled on. TM also shows 57 and 97, but I have been on Onondaga CR 57 and RR 97 near Cambridge, ON.
County routes are for sissies.

Doesn't matter yet - as my lowest is still lower than 57. But that particular county route was formerly a state route and it's well known enough (including being signed on the Thruway) that I'm counting it.  :-P

What consequences? Haven't most of the users at or near the top of the leaderboard gotten there by counting county routes?

Just checked mine, and my first two are 107 and 117. Not sure how I'm going to get those, given WY, SD, and NE don't have an option for that, but I bet I can figure something out.

107 is a tricky number in this part of the country, apparently, as neither Oklahoma nor Kansas have a 107 either. I ended up having to get mine in Louisiana.

MN 107 is a minor regional connector that has little value if you're not specifically going to Braham. Braham is famous for pie, so maybe that's a reason to go.

For highway 107s near me (or not-so near me), OH 107 is a short road in the northwest part of the state, IN 107 doesn't exist and IL 107 is in the far western part of the state. I think the best chance for a 107 for me is NY's which is on Long Island (which I visit around every year or so). Its interchanges with I-495 and NSP are both cloverleafs, so theoretically could just go through the loops to get a very short part of it.

MATraveler128

There's also a MA 107 that goes from Revere to Salem.
Decommission 128 south of Peabody!

Lowest untraveled number: 56

It is the first number that I cannot clinch in my usual clinching states of VA, MD, DE, PA, NC, NJ, and WV. (though NY probably does fit this list).

Yes, I know about OH 266 and NY 266.  What annoys me more is that I could have gotten some of MO 266 last September had I realized it.

Different realms! I-366 is a fantasy route, but there's a few real 366s (Pennsylvania had the one I needed.)

266 was a point where a lot of us got stuck in this thread. 300s are where route systems start to have lots of gaps, even more so as you go on.

After the first 10, then 102 becomes a threshold, et al.

paulthemapguy

Illinois starts to run out of highway numbers for the most part at 180, so that's why I haven't gotten much higher than 180. Don't expect my score to climb much higher than my current 207, heheh.

NY has a 366 as well, which runs from Ithaca to Freeville.

The 102 thing kind of surprises me considering how much of a destination Acadia NP is.

Illinois has an easy, short, scenic 102 to clinch south of Chicago, that makes a good connector between Interstates 55 and 57.  I would take it often trying to get from the western suburbs down to Champaign during my college days.

I second the motion, however, to make Maine's 102 the 102 of choice, as a visit to Acadia NP will almost guarantee the inclusion for some mileage along Maine 102.

The St. Louis area has an easily-accessible 366: the Missouri State Route 366.

It seems to be more of a number of digits issue. Every New England state except Maine has a whole bunch in the low 100s (well, Maine does, too, but not a lack of high two-digit routes), but outside New England, two-digit routes are more common.

For the record, I have NH 102, NH 107 (also part of the three-digit problem), and NY 366.

Illinois' 102 is the one I got. I've been stuck on 108 for a while. I have a 3-day comprehensive Illinois trip planned in which I would:

Pick up the next two numbers I'm missing (108, 147) I'd then be up to 171.
Visit the rest of the Illinois counties I'm missing (28 of them)
Pick up the rest of interstate mileage I'm missing (72 W of 55, all of 172, all of 255, 57 S of 64, all of 24)
Pick up the rest of IL 1 (S of US 45)

Hope to get this done this summer.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

MO 366 is probably one of the first routes I've been on
in my lifetime.

But for those that happen to pass by St Louis on EB I-44, a pretty easy way to get it is to use exit 277A to MO 366, then turn onto NB Lindbergh to get back to I-44. Also gets you 61 or 67, if you're missing one of those numbers (which neither seem to be a common number in this thread anyways).
