Please note: Any street sign that you create must meet the basic requirements of the 2009 MUTCD -- nighttime reflective (see page 73/864, or 31 on pdf), mixed-case lettering, blades that are at least one foot (12 inches) in height (see page 181/864 or 139 on pdf) and are either green with white lettering, blue with white lettering, brown with white lettering or white with black lettering.

Yeah, um, it's not legal unless approved by the locale having jurisdiction over the right of way. So don't go making signs until you get it squared with them. Be prepared to draw up plans, and you better be or have an engineer to sign them.

On the other hand, though, I imagine this will be useful for making conceptual signs in Illustrator and what not. I'll look into it, as one of the things I really want to make are street signs.

Would that be legal for your own driveway, though?

A sign by the road for you driveway might need approval.  Of course, if you put those signs on your property away from the road, there shouldn't be an issue unless they run afoul of billboard regulations.
