Random 270 signs in the middle of Columbus neighborhood?

I don't know if this is a Dublin one or Columbus (I think it's Columbus) but whenever I'm heading eastbound on Federated to Bent Tree there's random signs for I-270, which is well away from the highway here. When I head east on Bent Tree there is a sign to get to 270 from Snouffer Road as well. However, there's no I-270 signs from westbound Federated to Bent Tree.

I would assume people who are headed east on Federated probably missed Sawmill, but I was driving and randomly noticed these a ways away from 270. Anyone from Columbus living near Dublin/UA/Sawmill probably knows these signs! It's by the strip mall at the corner of 161 and Sawmill, northeast side.

Inside the img tags, there must be an image. Just an image. Not the webpage hosting the image. If entering the URL into the URL bar returns more than just an image, it's not what you want.

The image link for the first one is below. I put it in code tags and not image tags so that it won't be duplicated when you change the link.

so from now on, go to the actual URL link and then just tag it with <code></code> instead of dealing with any URLs?

So something like this:
<code>the actual URL that goes to the image</code>

If you replace your <code></code> with <img></img>, then yes.  Code specifically spells it out so that instead of executing the code, you can read it.

I tried doing it with the <img></img> and then it disappeared. I then tried it with <code></code> and I'm still not sure why it's not properly linking. I even did the shared link from Dropbox and put it in the proper tags? Unless I'm missing something.

I feel incredibly stupid right now.

It was easy; I was just super-confused for a sec, but I fixed them.

If you are in the Cbus area the signs show up randomly out of nowhere!

If its east of Sawmill Road, its in Columbus.
If its west of Sawmill Road, its in Dublin
-------
Otherwise, those signs for I-270 go back to the 1990s when Sawmill Rd was the happening strip for retail for Columbus. Those traffic jams on Sawmill were notorious.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

This is what you want to link in the op right (your links aren't showing)?

Definitely looks like a Columbus to me; it's the only place I know of that uses a black background on interstate shields on their local roads. It's probably there as an alternative to the Sawmill interchange, though I don't know where it would lead to, OH 315 or US 23?

There are other places I can think of that actually would benefit from a "To I-270" sign. Bethel Rd continues as Haydn Run Rd west of Sawmill. A "To I-270" with a right arrow could be placed at the intersection with Dublin Rd/Frantz Rd, and then one with a left arrow at the intersection of Frantz with Tuttle.

I'm not sure what happened; the links to the images were working and they were rendering!

That is correct, thank you for putting this in!

I had put the images in a dropbox, then copied the image address, then wrapped it in the proper tag to render it in the post. But now they are gone.

I've always assumed those were for distributing traffic. Especially since Sawmill has so many right only intersections. It also helps keep traffic away from old Dublin (people heading for the 33/161 interchange).

Thank you! Good point about that, and it could be why there is no "To 270" signs from WB Federated Blvd. to EB Bent Tree.

Pics are back up for some reason now, thankfully. I'm not sure why they vanished last night even though I was able to figure out (with the help of the great people here) how to load them in yesterday afternoon.

Another weird thing too--in the 33/161 roundabout those going south on 33 get their own little tunnel to go under the dreaded roundabout, but northbound 33 drivers aren't as lucky! :p

Maybe they were inspired by the Ohio Turnpike

The tunnel is only for OH 257 south to US 33 east/south. Both US 33 movements have to use the roundabout, 1/4 for EB and 3/4 for WB.

LOL funny.

As someone said upthread it's probably to divert traffic away from NB sawmill and flow it out so that it comes back to Sawmill via Snouffer. But you'd think you'd want the WB Federated to EB Bent Tree to have those signs as well, as most coming off of WB Federated were from WB 161 further south (making a right from WB 161 to WB Federated, then going north to EB Bent Tree and then to Snouffer).

That "tunnel" has been there since the Dublin Bridge (US 33/Oh 161) over the Scioto River was built in 1935.

I love that little bypass, and I'm glad they kept it when they installed the roundabout. It always feels like a guilty pleasure to use it

It is! I've also tried to talk to a contact in the Cbus Public Works department--asked him if he knew about the 270 signs!

My contact in Cbus works department said this:
It appears to just be wayfinding signage for an atypical route back to 270. The other direction is a more intuitive route. I can only guess, but I'd think it was based on a 311 request at some point in the past.
