My site is down. I'm having issues with the domain renewal. Any photos linked in posts here, etc., will probably be broken until I can get the issue resolved.

I have actually noticed a lot of these types of sites are no longer in operation.

The Wayback Machine didn't surveyed often the site, the more recent version they archived is from October 2018.

Well, I haven't uploaded anything to it since then. I'm way behind on putting up my Flickr links.

Oh, aren't you the guy who ran the list of Arizona signage goofs?

Nope, I've only been to Arizona once in my life.

Nvm, must have been a different site, which is apparently ALSO down (or at least gone from the highest search results). Anyone else here know which site I'm talking about?

I still reference the maps from that site, it shows the fourth highest result on Yahoo right behind ADOT and AZ511.  That's pretty good considering the site hasn't really seen an update in at least a decade.

Thanks to Wikipedia and also people defaulting their photos to Facebook puragatory.

Did this ever get resolved?

Not yet. I'm afraid the domain name may have been bought. You can still access text on the site, but no photos.

Gotta be on top of the domain renewal! They can be snatched up by a domain parker!
Well, that's just like your opinion man...

Definitely true. After we decided to discontinue the old Gribblenation sites, the gribblenation.com and gribblenation.net domains were snatched up by domain squatters. When we decided to resurrect the Gribblenation name for use of the current blog format we use now, we took gribblenation.org because our former .com and .net domains were unavailable.

Or photo sharing sites like Flickr, which now seem to be going the way of the dodo, save for Instagram and Imgur.

In fairness, I've been guilty of this too. The options for sharing photos and content these days have evolved since the vanity websites of yore.

hbelkins

The domain may be gone, but the Flickr page and Facebook page are still up.

Last year wasn't a big one for personal travel. But in addition to photos from the new Portsmouth, Ohio bypass, now appearing in both places are some photos from a couple of trips to the Louisville-Shepherdsville area last summer.

I am going to try to move some of the old albums from the domain to both Flickr and Facebook. That may take a bit of time, but at least they'll be out there if anyone wants to see them. I may actually end up duplicating some of the albums, but that's the way it goes.
