Here are your headlines about California Highways for May 2020. Relatively light this month.

I'm still working on the May II round of updates to the pages, which is going through the approved May 2020 SHOPP. I'm up to Merced County, about half-way through. As always, I welcome submissions or leads on naming sign or named individual pictures for this update.

As always, ready, set, discuss.

Funny, you can almost tell on Gribblenation the exact day when things loosened up for me with travel restrictions.  I was plugging along with the Paper Highways series which had some neat finds for early CA 96 and CA 1 in the Lost Coast.  When things opened back up I started hitting bucket list back roads almost immediately.  Those plans I had for NorCal are starting to get closer to reality given Lassen and Redwood National Parks just reopened.  I still want to dig into Legislative Route 261 but that will probably come at some point Mid-June.  I was in the middle of an article about former US 101 in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park that I'll finally be able to open back up tonight.

I was wondering how hard the fall in gas sales was going to hit the transportation budget, suffice to say that's quite the short fall.  At least some of the really high profile projects like US 50 at Echo Summit got going during the shut downs.
