There was a snow storm today, and as a result there's a lot of snow on the ground.

High 40s and mostly overcast. Heavy fog at night, though, so driving was tough.

It's been quite pleasant so far this year in SE Texas, with a nice mix of 75 degree days like today and 50 degree days like earlier this week. Later this week the Houston metro could receive some wintry precipitation, but I'm crossing my fingers.

Today:

Brownsville:  66 low, 81 high
Corpus Christi:  63 low, 87 high
Laredo:  59 low, 85 high
McAllen:  61 low, 89 high

But of course another cold front tonight will send our temperatures plunging back down again.  Most of our area will drop below 40 for lows, a couple of locations could be down to almost the freezing point.

This is typical South Texas winter every year, highs keep migrating from a string of 80-degree days to consecutive days of really frigid weather and right back to the 80s again and again to very cold weather and so on.

Speaking of weather!  Yesterday my local astronomy association hosted a NASA "ambassador", a volunteer who speeks before groups about various space missions and he spoke mostly about the mars rover Perseverance and its drone helicopter Ingenuity.  Yesterday was a historic occassion!  A bit of a Mars dust storm was coming up and there was a flight with Ingenuity scheduled, so it became the first scheduled flight cancelled on account of weather on a planet other than Earth.

Kaboom!  Thunder and a load of hail, turning the ground white.  We don't get either all that often here.
