Fast moving highways in NE Illinois?

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Ever drive the Tri-State Tollway through Lake County?

:hmmm:

Or the Chicago expressways, especially the Kennedy, in clear traffic?

Mike

Can't say I have recently, and I had thought that clear traffic on the Kennedy was an urban legend!

Be fair, I live down by Joliet, and a clear I-80 or I-55 is a HUGE myth.
I'm never wrong, just wildly inaccurate.

No one has come up with a previous thread yet.
I remain convinced that one exists - I distinctly remember something about I-40/I-85 in North Carolina - but unable to find it.  :meh: :coffee:
I could have sworn we had a thread just like this one (possibly even exact same or very similar title) in 2011, but I would think that would have come up in a search.  I remember the New Jersey Turnpike being mentioned, since it was right around the time of the Central NJ Roadmeet.

Traffic on the Kennedy is clear...at 4 am...if there's no construction...

Chicago is easy to drive in during the middle of the night. There will be some traffic but nothing that is backing the expressways up. The Circle Interchange is the worst interchange ever designed and traffic around that area is a 24 hour problem it seems like.

Yeah. If only they'd built the Hypotenuse.

In my previous travels:

●  I-15 between Barstow and the CA/NV border -- Last time I drove it in 1997 was during the week and to not get trapped in the right lane, you had to do AT LEAST 90-100 MPH in the left lane to keep up with the pack.  This was the only time I ever drove a rental car at 105MPH!

● I-94 thru Southern MI -- even back as far as 1990, when I drove from Toledo to Chicago, avoiding the tolls on I-80/90, when I had a 1983 Nissan Sentra with a speedometer dial that maxed at 85, I must have driven for nearly an hour not knowing how fast I was REALLY going, because the speedometer was fully "pegged" at 85 the whole time.

In Colorado I'd guess I-76 from about Hudson to the Nebraska border.

75 is posted and sitting on 80 will still get you passed by everyone that isn't a tractor trailer.

I would add E-470. Posted 75 mph, I've been passed while doing 90.

Oh, is he term-limited or is he not running? Or is he just so unpopular that he wouldn't win re-election?

Likely #2 because of #3.

Caring more about building a Tunnel to O'Hare and red-light cameras than caring about the number of people getting shot and killed in his "fine" city on a daily basis will do that to you.

Flint1979

In contrast, I'm completely satisfied with Detroit's mayor Mike Duggan.
