What is the furthest skyline view you know of that is clearly visible from Street View?

Rochester, NY, and Buffalo, NY both have some pretty crazy ones... TIL that Buffalo's skyline is visible from here, on NY 77, although you can't zoom in far enough to make it out. That's 25 miles as the crow flies. For Rochester, you can see the skyline here, 32.3 miles away! although there's no Street View.

This is the farthest I could find in 15 minutes of looking. You can just barely make out some buildings, 35 miles from Toronto.

Street View uses wide angle lenses, so it's going to be harder to spot no matter how good the view is to the human eye, let alone a telephoto lens.

The New York City skyline is visible from Hanover Ave in Randolph Twp, NJ, a distance of just over 27 miles (36 by road), though it doesn't show super well on street view. It's also visible at several points along that ridge through central Morris County, but the views are best on clear Winter days when there isn't foliage to obscure the views. It's also very clearly visible from the Monmouth County coast along Sandy Hook Bay, a distance of about 20 miles, but over 50 miles by road due to the geography of New York Harbor.

This is Gratiot Avenue just south of 8 Mile with Downtown Detroit on the horizon. A little closer than the Grand River one I showed, this one is about 9 miles as the crow flies.

Also in person you can see Detroit's skyline from the hill at Stony Creek Metro Park about 26 miles from Downtown Detroit. You can also see Downtown Detroit in person from Metro Beach at the end of 16 Mile Road which is about 20 miles from Downtown Detroit.

Stony Creek is due north of Downtown Detroit with nothing in the way of the view from the top of the hill.

Wow, that's definitely the winner so far for "visible in Street View" (360 degree images can count, too).

That's a good one, and I'll have to pay attention next time I'm up NY 18, because I'm sure it's much clearer than that in real life on a clear day... but I think it's a bit of a stretch to call it visible from Street View. The average person browsing definitely wouldn't identify it.

I've been to Indiana Dunes and the view there is pretty nice. This wouldn't be on GSV since there isn't anything close to the lake shore but I've seen Downtown Chicago's skyline from Warren Dunes State Park in Michigan before.

There is this, where you can see the lake, but the skyline isn't visible.

I know you can see the Milwaukee skyline from Holy Hill, about 30 miles away. I've heard that Boston is visible from Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire over 80 miles away, and while you can't see it on GSV, I wouldn't be surprised if you could on a clear day: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.8613683,-72.1080317,3a,20.6y,150.91h,91.23t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipODWpG0j4-rFuWM5ySEY6qHUY8veoWj326BkHWv!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipODWpG0j4-rFuWM5ySEY6qHUY8veoWj326BkHWv%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya252.19412-ro0-fo100!7i8704!8i4352
There are also several places within a mile of my house (12ish miles from downtown) where you can see the Madison skyline, or at least the Capitol.

Most cities probably have a few good mid-range views.
Here's some for Rochester: 2.18 miles, 5.55 miles, 8.57 miles, 10.67 miles

In order to view the Chicago skyline from Warren Dunes it has to be a very clear day with no clouds or anything in the sky in the way or else you won't see it. You can make out the Sears Tower and John Hancock Center faintly but you can tell it's those two buildings because of the antennas. The day I did it was back in 2012 it was 98 degrees outside and I was on my way to Chicago so I stopped at Warren Dunes to take a dip in Lake Michigan and could make out the two buildings I mentioned and thought that was pretty cool.

I've been up Mount Monadnock a few times.  I find it hard to believe you can see Boston from the summit unaided.

I mean, you can see Mount Monadnock from Mount Holyoke in MA on a real clear day, I suppose, as well as Mount Snow.  Those seem closer than 80 miles, though.

It is only 9 miles from Downtown, but I like this view of St Louis from Belleville, IL on IL 15 at the IL 157 interchange. It is even prettier on a clearer day

You absolutely can see the Boston skyline from Monadnock. I've seen it myself, and a google image search turns up tons of pictures.

It's also only ~62 miles, not over 80.

It's also not visible in Street View.

Charleston doesn't really have any very distant views of the skyline more than 7-10 miles out.

You can see the Ravenel Bridge from the Folly Beach County Park, 11.5 miles away on a clear day, even though it isn't visible on Street View.

https://goo.gl/maps/2GEEswZcenh6oAUH6

Also the Limehouse Bridge on Johns Island, 11 miles away, you can clearly see the Ravenel Bridge from there along with some of the downtown skyline.

You can make out Houston's skyline behind the chemical plants from the Fred Hartman Bridge in Baytown, give or take 22 miles away. Mighty impressive considering Houston has no hills.

Fred Hartman Bridge:

Also, you can barely make out Downtown from the NB ramp from the Grand Parkway to I-69 on the northeast side. Even more impressive at around 27 miles away.

It's not the winner, but I've always enjoyed the view from here, above I-290, since it meant that I was almost home. I especially liked it at night.

It's pretty close to the The Adventures Club Bourbon Soceity (sic), which is located right at the center of the interchange, apparently.

I've seen the Chicago skyline from I-57 in Kankakee.  It looks to be about 45 miles or so.  You can see the Toronto skyline across Lake Ontario crossing The Welland Canal in St. Catherines.  You can also see the Toronto skyline coming down from the plateau into Hamilton on 403.  Not sure of the distances, but it's quite a ways of in both cases.

Hmm. I don't know, there's definitely a skyline, but something tells me it's not Toronto.
