On this Earth Day in particular, the environment and wildlife is doing quite well.

you already know why.

And every National Park around this area is closed...fun times.  If I wasn't getting oil change and possibly new tires I might have sought out a BLM Trail.

I can always easily remember that Earth Day is April 22.

And I can always remember THAT because it's also my anniversary.

And the way I can always remember THAT is that it's exactly one week after tax day.

And the reason I even though of THAT in the first place is that my sister, who works in financial planning, jokingly thanked us for planning our wedding for after tax day.

The first Earth Day saw us students walking along the side of a street while escorted by teachers.  Along came a 1956 Chevy, doing its best to scare us with crazy driving.  The incident was reported to the North Bend PD.  Nothing happened.

As Steve Prefontaine, from neighboring Coos Bay said, growing up here left you two choices.  Be a hood or be a jock.  Those guys in the Chevy were your typical hoods found in this area of the time.

US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

Real easy for me to remember. Earth Day is my birthday. It was also Easter Sunday on the day I was born.  Talk about a trifecta of things aligning!
