While I have no definitive proof (it's not my photo), I am pretty sure it's not.

I saw an actual picture of that one from the Expressway, shared on facebook. It made me chuckle

Someone @ IDOT District 1 understands no ketchup on a hot dog, at least!

"No ketchup" ??? That makes no sense.

It's considered a sin to put ketchup on hot dogs in the city of Chicago. That's what it's referring to it.

That should read "it is a sin to put ketchup on hot dogs".  :)

I don't like ketchup on hot dogs, but now I'm tempted  to use hamburger relish on one.

Three guesses which state this is in:

Massachusetts

I think it's Massachusetts, too. However, there's a small chance of it being Rhode Island.

It was on I-93 SB around Route 24. Today it was different, don't remember exactly but something with the word wicked.

I'm surprised that the FHWA hasn't yet clamped down on this amateur night silliness.

It was "WICKED TOUGH TRAVELS" that I saw Wednesday morning. The sign was blank Thursday and Friday morning.

Which tells me they've backed off from the usual practice of plastering these messages on every available sign.

The A-Hed is a column that has traditionally featured lighter/human interest stories on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.  A-Hed columns years ago are actually how I found out that there were others who counted counties, and how I was introduced to the old m.t.r. newsgroup.

Well, A-Hed has done it again.  Today's column (paywalled, sadly): https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-best-one-liners-in-america-are-on-the-highway-1533829593

QuoteDaniel Taylor, a traffic-operations specialist at the Virginia Department of Transportation, was lying in bed at home one night in March, jotting down ideas for highway safety signs.

"Which is a little odd,"  he says.

Inspiration struck. Why not use the "Black Panther"  movie to nag drivers? Days later, 120 large electronic billboards along major Virginia interstates beamed the bulletin: "Wakanda Driver are You? Safety is King."

Given the current regime in charge of the Federal Government, I'm surprised they haven't removed the (totally legitimate) ban on using variable message highway signs for advertising purposes. Though that's probably in the works.
