Thotsamarachan Bridge in Bangkok opened to traffic today. They call it the widest bridge across the Chao Phraya River, it is eight lanes wide.

It's the first stage of the Rama Expressway, which is being constructed mostly on top of the Nakhon Expressway.

The bridge is built next to the Rama IX Bridge, and was previously called the 'Second Rama IX Bridge'. Thotsamarachan Bridge means '10th King Bridge', named after Vajiralongkorn, the 10th king of Thailand.

Here's a photo of a recent bridge run event.

Bangkok will get the longest elevated highways in the world. Most expressways are built as continuous viaducts.

The combination of the Bang Na Expressway and Chalong Rat Expressway has 67 kilometers of continuous viaduct.

Under construction is an elevated highway on top of Highway 35 (Rama II Road), combined with the Sirat Expressway, this will result in a 60 kilometer long elevated highway.

Here's a photo of Rama II Road.
