TxDOT is moving along on the (as you go south from OK) first construction segment from roughly US82 south past FM218. Photos were taken June 9.

Looking to the southwest just past FM51. You can see how much of the curve will be taken out.  According to TxDOT, all of the Trinity River bridges will be replaced.

Showing the SB frontage road and the SB main lanes.  Initially set to be 2x3x3x2, it is supposed to be easily converted to 2x4x4x2.

The SB frontage road bridge across the Trinity. I would guess they will use it as temporary SB main lanes while the remaining bridges are built.

BIG BUMP

Clearing the RoW has begun from the south end of the Red River bridge to the railroad overpass. Almost all of the additional land was taken from the east side of the existing RoW. I hope to have updated photos soon.

I must have missed the news, but are they building a new Red River bridge for I-35?

There is a schematic, which Rte66man found and posted in another thread:

However, I haven't heard that a contract has been let.

Edit:  Fixed a misspelling of Rte66man's handle.

Interesting, looks like they are going to revive the US77 bridge to run along the new I-35 mainlanes bridge. That's smart because if there's a accident or something, you are stuck with no nearby alternative.

That is correct and it was stated the reason for it was for an accident detour.

The first time it appears in the 8-Year plan is 2027.
