Title: CA 149
Post by: Max Rockatansky on February 27, 2019, 11:55:10 PM
On my recent trip to Sacramento Valley there was a couple highways that wanted to travel on that I had previously clinched in 2017.  One such route was CA 149 from CA 99 southeast to CA 70 near Oroville.  CA 149 is an expressway grade State Highway albeit a very short one at only 5 miles.  While CA 149 on the surface doesn't appear all that important it was part of the East Valley Corridor which was meant to be an alternate route through Sacramento Valley to I-5.

I still remember when this road was being upgraded from two-lane corridor to expressway in the 2008-2009 timeframe!  Before that, one had to actually make an at-grade left turn from southbound 99 to access southbound 149, with no stoplights or anything.

149 seems unimportant, but it's part of the mainline in both its terminal interchanges (to "keep going" on 70 NB becomes 149 NB becomes 99 NB)
