Saratoga Springs (NY) dinner gathering on March 10th?

As with last year, I'll be in Saratoga Springs, NY for a weekend in early March for a meteorology conference.  This year, it'll be the weekend of March 11-12.  So I was wondering if there was any interest amongst Capitol Region (or greater NY) folks in having a dinner that Friday night (the 10th).

I'll be staying at the same place as last year, so I would prefer somewhere in downtown Saratoga.

Depends on the time (later the better), so I'm a maybe.

Definite maybe. Would be nice to meet some new roadgeeks and see others again. I won't be leaving town for spring break until the next day.

I'm no longer working from home so I won't have the schedule flexibility to make it up there so easily like I did last year. But I can't rule anything out.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Man, if only it was the Saturday. I'll calendar it anyway.

froggie

The Saturday is the main day of our conference, so no bueno there...

Checking the calendar, I have a curling match over on Balltown Road in Niskayuna at 8:35 that night (for the local crowd, it's that nondescript building across from the fire station). My attendance will likely hinge on whether or not I can find someone to fill in for me for that game (may be easier on a Friday).

I'll do it. Oh, wait.

Good chance, especially if I'm still in the Albany area.

If I owned a car, I might be crazy enough to attempt to day-trip this, but I don't yet and it's too much of a shlep to do via mass transit from NYC in one day...

Getting up isn't the problem. It's getting back.

Agreed.

I pulled it off last year getting out of work at 5 pm.  I don't think I have anything on the calendar at present so I may be open to coming out again.

Alps

I'll upgrade to "likely." I'm putting in enough OT for the time being that I can probably grab half a day off without anyone complaining.

EDIT: Our company ski outing happens to be that day, at Hunter. So I'm now definite (unless I break bones and organs).

Any ideas on where to have dinner? Same place as last year?

Have it at the casino buffet. Let us all get fat  :-D

In all honesty, anywhere is fine for me as long as it's 6 PM or later. No way I can guarantee I'll be up there before then if I get out of RPI at 4:30 with how traffic can be in the evening.

I don't recall hating it.

It was Seven Horse Pub, which I thought was a solid restaurant.

Okay...I put in and got approved for a half day at work, so I'll be getting out at noon on the 10th.  I did schedule an oil change appointment in the afternoon, but I should still have plenty of time to make the drive out and (hopefully) not have to spend 30 minutes looking for a parking spot.

Not sure what everyone is thinking in terms of a time, but assuming I spend an hour at the dealer, maybe make a quick stop at home, and not dawdle on the way out, I should be in the Saratoga area between 5-6.

6 is probably the earliest the locals can guarantee we can get there without missing work/class given how traffic tends to be at the bridges. At that time on a Friday, I need to allow at least an hour to get up there.

Yeah, I'm hesitant to say I could make it up there before 6:45.

I might need to pull out of this thing depending on how schedules line up. While I'd like to see everyone, part of me just wants to get home (or at least partway home, since I plan to do a boatload of clinching both ways) and maximize the amount of time I get to see the family over spring break.

No, you need to be there. I think we're all arriving between 6 and 7.
