This is on US 70 at Gary Rd.

At this location, it is obvious that the curve has been straightened. Also, it is somewhat obvious that the dirt road used to be a highway. Its was US 70, and also was SH 48 before Lake Texoma was built, causing US 70 to be re-routed farther south.

But, wait, there's more. If you look very closely, you will see that the old slab points to the southeast, but ends. A second branch curves off of that slab , and heads south toward Kingston. My suspicion is that this is a stub for the proposed diagonal re-alignment of US 70 from this intersection southeast, that would have by-passed Kingston.

Here is a 1950's map that shows the proposed realignment: https://dc.library.okstate.edu/digital/collection/OKMaps/id/6594/rec/4
Also notice how Gary Rd curves into what is now "Highway 106" (a County Rd)

Highway 106 is former SH-106, which was decommissioned on March 4, 1994.

I knew it was SH 106, just not the decommissioning date. Thanks. Its just goofy that the county still calls it "Highway 106". I also know that it was SH 70 for a time after being US 70
