OK, I-80 doesn't go all the way into Chicago, but still ...    :spin:

Keep right except to pass.  Yes.  You.
Visit scenic Orleans County, NY!

Nor does it make it all the way into Cleveland.

that the 2 teams in the World Series are from cities who are close to the end points of the I-80/I-90 concurrency

kphoger

Ah.  We could also call it the Turnpike Series, then.

Great Lakes or Rust Belt World Series would make more sense...why not US 20?

On a slightly different note, in Toledo one can access the Ohio Turnpike (80/90) with control cities listed on signs as Chicago/Cleveland. This made me wonder, how many other championship series for all the major sports leagues (World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup and Super Bowl) has both participants on one highway sign. I know Super Bowl XLI is another one with hundreds of signs pointing to Indy and Chicago. I wonder if there are more.

Are there any signs for I-70 in Missouri listing Kansas City and St. Louis (1985 World Series)? That seems like one of the most obvious ones.

Pitttsburgh played Detroit in the Stanley Cup Finals a few years back, though I don't know whether any sign lists both (I kind of doubt it).

Super Bowl III (New York Jets versus Baltimore Colts) and Super Bowl XXXV (New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens). I assume Super Bowl XXV might qualify as to some sign leading to the Thruway (New York Giants versus Buffalo Bills).

For teams that are actually in those respective cities:

1912 - Boston Red Sox vs. New York Giants
1986 - Boston Red Sox vs. New York Mets

Would we count the 1916 World Series between the Red Sox and Dodgers here?

Someone purported to "correct" me that the Jets don't play in New York City. They did at the time of Super Bowl III (Shea Stadium).

I was correcting the "New York Giants," not the Jets. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
