I think we're more than good with Monta[ñ]a. Who's got a New Hampshire? :-D

I played New Hampshire above, we're on to New Jersey now.

Even better!

Also acceptable would be a Challenge for February 17th, 18th or 19th. ;-)

A bit late, now.

I feel like we're running out of good ideas (well, at least I am)–the only things I can really think of anymore are kind of difficult. That said:

QuoteFebruary 20, 2018: Before and after! Post two pictures, taken in (about) the same spot and in the same direction, of signs where the second picture has more, different, and/or fewer route numbers on the road than in the first picture.

First picture is taken before the Washington County section of MN-5 was eliminated (June 15, 2015):

Second picture was taken after elimination (July 30, 2016):

Sometimes I start to feel that way, too, but then some of you have come with some really good new ideas in recent weeks, so hope is by no means lost!

I have some suggestions that might help with ideas for future Challenges:

–Remember that this is a Daily Picture–not Photo–Challenge. So we can always have Challenges about your own illustrations, interchange drawings, sign renderings, etc. And another big category we really haven't touched on is maps: we could do before-and-after maps of a certain construction project, or maybe look for maps that show certain words, combinations of route numbers, etc., just as we often do with signs.

–Which brings up the next point: this is not necessarily a Daily Sign Challenge. We could have (and have had) photos taken in certain types of weather, of certain types of scenery, photos with sheep in them, etc. Anything that's on-topic within the forum is acceptable!

–Also remember that this isn't a take-it-yourself Challenge; the photos you post can be from any source that you're allowed to share. They don't have to be taken by you or even part of your own collection, so if you have an idea for a Challenge but decide against it because you don't think people will have the right photos, remember that the photos can be found anywhere.

–As an extension of that, keep in mind that Google Street View is allowed, so we could do various kinds of scavenger hunts using GSV (or even just Google Maps or other online services). For example, "GSV images showing railroad grade crossings while a train is passing." (And the instructions for embedding GSV images in the thread have been posted a few times now.)

–And for a more specific Challenge suggestion, my recent Scandinavia Challenge was thought of as the first in a series of world regions where we could look for images from other countries. We can always try other regions of similar extent and cohesiveness to find road pictures–southeast Asia, the Caribbean, eastern Europe, etc.

That is a good point, but a large part of the fun, for me anyway, is trying to find my own qualifying photos to post for challenges. It's not (necessarily) about showing off my stuff, but it's rather that going to Google Images or Wikimedia Commons and typing some relevant search terms into the box just doesn't feel like it's worth my time/effort.

You definitely have some good suggestions about future challenges, though.

BEFORE:  Westbound I-94 east of Battle Creek.

AFTER:  With M-311 finally signed from I-94, at least a dozen years after the route was designated.  A new exit ramp was constructed about a half-mile (at most) east of the former one, but far enough that it got a new exit number.

BEFORE:  Westbound I-96 near Nunica.

AFTER:  Same exit after M-231 was completed and opened in October 2015.

I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

QuoteFebruary 23rd. Post a picture of 2 speed limit signs posted. Like my example, Oregon's Speed xx signs are allowed but not minimums or truck limits.

This is maybe stretching it but 2 signs are up/in final touches of being placed depending on your definition.

The Speed 55 (speed limit 55) and Speed limit 65 signs are my play as the truck is there just cause. (Act like its not there)
ODOT, raise the speed limit and fix our traffic problems.
