QuoteJanuary 6th challenge:  Post photos showing two consecutive route numbers (need not be the same route type).

As kind of a side- challenge, I wonder what the highest combination of numbers will be.

Here's Ohio 189 and 190 in Fort Jennings, OH.

Do suffixes count?

If not:

Your rules, but IMO that makes the game harder for people who want to participate but aren't already in the game. (Compare with my Take-It-Yourself challenge, in which numbers never close.)

Yeah, I'm seeing that. To be honest, that was kind of the point: to keep the game moving with a variety of different content and not get bogged down with a bunch of old Challenges.

That hasn't been a problem in my thread. We're posting "expired" numbers all the time and nobody's complaining.

Maybe in Hawaii? (Photo credit hawaiihighways.com.)

There could be a 3xxx pair in Louisiana, but I doubt it.

What do you all think?

Honestly, I'm all for keeping it current.  Keep Rule #4 as is - One Calendar day max.

Quote from: Jim on January 06, 2017, 09:30:10 AM
I'm in favor of only a short grace period.  If they were my rules to make, I'd do the same over on the take it yourself number thread.

This is my inclination as well; I really think what appeals to me about this thread is the always-new, constantly-changing (but still organized) content. I've been enjoying catching up on the take-it-yourself thread recently, but I do find that skipping back to old numbers sort of interrupts the flow for me.

No, I don't think it rises to the level of needing to complain about it. Just different threads, different rules. Besides, it's much more productive just to make a new thread than to complain. :)

And honestly, I don't think I really thought much about it until the question arose here. I didn't consciously start this thread as a remedy to perceived problems with any other thread, and I don't mean to suggest there's any issue with yours that needs addressing. The freshness of this one is just an aspect I kinda like.

Fairfax County Virginia has the winner...

This one is the highest pair that GMSV has.  There is at least one pair slightly higher than this one:

Kentucky may have some 3xxx pairs, but those are the only two high-number pairings that I knew for sure I had photos for.

A picture of my own:

Courtesy to Google Maps Street View, although in this specific example of signage the cardinal directions are completely wrong (as in this picture it is looking down US 41 South and US 76 East, not the other way around):

EDIT: ALL IS GOOD. I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT AND REMEMBERED HOW TO CORRECTLY POST FLICKR PHOTOS AFTER 2 YEARS OF HIATUS FROM THE FORUM.
Now alternating between different highway shields for my avatar - my previous highway shield avatar for the last few years was US 76.

This challenge is pretty easy I think  :sombrero:

A sign that should be replaced due to excessive graffiti that I'm sure affects reflect ability at night.

These are recent installations; done after a move was started in other states to remove signs from bridges.

The challenge will be to find examples that are not a bridge...

How about mounted to a flat bed truck?

These were hanging out at the intersection of US 29 and VA 6 in Woods Mill in June 2015...

Wait, what time zone are you in? "Today", at the time you posted this, would've been January 6th, no? (It only just turned January 7th for me, and I'm in EST.)

Yeah, the western time zones of the US can still finish up January 6th; meanwhile, the Eastern hemisphere can get started on January 7th. We can keep the same Challenge that was posted early.
