QuoteMay 19, 2018: Street blades mentioning numbered routes that have been decommissioned/turned back/no longer exist. Street blades mentioning "Old Hwy X" or similar do not count for this challenge.

For some reason, this seems to be a somewhat common theme that I've come across.

This one, mentioning MN-333, was still posted in St. Peter in August 2014 after 333 had been eliminated in 2009.

The entire route of former Iowa 102, eliminated in 2003 (now CR-G5T) is still marked with street blades (which appear rather new, by the way) for the route, despite the fact that it's been a county road for almost 15 years now. This sign is on the edge of Pella.

Poweshiek CR-F62 is still labeled with its former designation, Iowa 225, at the intersection with Iowa 146.

What would you call this: hazardous intersection?

This is the only railroad crossing on a freeway I've ever been across:

It's NY 840 in New Hartford.  From looking at where the rail line goes, it looks like there aren't any more customers on the line.  Here's a Street View link of the crossing.

Maybe they're more common than I think, but this is the only "Elderly Crossing" I can recall seeing.  Malden, Massachusetts.  June 16, 2005.

The sign should be facing the road to the left, with the arrow pointing behind the camera. The same sign can also be seen in the far background of the next photo, for context (even though the focus is a different sign).

Best I can come up with.

Lavava, AR: 255 should have an angled double arrow, similar to below). Otherwise, you're going in someone's driveway

May 25, 2018:  Post a road sign with a number on it that corresponds to which day of the year you were born, from 1 to 365.

For example, I was born on November 5, which is the 309th day of the year (I wasn't born in a leap year).  So here's route 309:

What if someone were born on December 31 in a leap year?  Your number range doesn't extend that far.   :hmmm:

Well, not at any speed below 85 mph, that is.

The birthdate I put in my profile is a fake birthdate, so my display age is only approximate. I'll admit to being an old fart, but not exactly how old.

Fortunately, this says nothing about it having to be a route number. The relevance of I-285's exit 48 is unaffected by whether or not it's a leap year. :)

I was born on the 115th day of the year (not a leap year). This photo is in Peterborough, ON:

The photo is from 2000 by Shawn DeCasri, and it was still this way as of last month...

Here is one from HB Elkins in 2004.  The VA 16 shield was removed but cutouts remained in last GMSV (2008)

Another one that is technically not a second shield but is ridiculous looking.  Also from HB in 2004...

Yes. However, no other Challenge was posted for May 29th, so as per usual procedure:

:colorful::colorful::colorful: Monthly recap time! :colorful::colorful::colorful:

As usual, May 30th and 31st will have their own Challenges. Also, since this was late in being posted, we'll extend the recap through June 1st (which will also have its own Challenge).
