Firebaugh's Ferry

The last stop of the trip this weekend was the location of one of the first ferry crossings in California at Firebaugh's Ferry which began operation in 1854:

The ferry was located about half mile south of the 13th Street bridge along the San Joaquin River in Firebaugh.

Interesting connection the ferry had to the Pacheco Pass Toll Road and Butterfield Overland Route.  I'd like to pin down a more accurate date on when the ferry was replaced with an actual bridge.  Kind of surprising how many roads Andrew Firebaugh was associated with that became modern state highways.

Stumbled upon the ruins of the 1885 Firebaugh Drawbridge today which used to be on 12th Street and replaced Firebaugh's Ferry:
