Arrows pointing wrong way on road?

This is in North Carolina, and I am on the right (correct; not left) side of the road. It seems to me that the arrows should point the other way, no? Any idea why they are like this. It seems counter-intuitive, and though I turned into this lane (initially from the other direction) it made me feel like I was on the wrong lane.

These triangles are composing a yield line. Yield lines are typically placed in advance of a crosswalk or at the entry to a roundabout (or adjacent to a yield sign in other applications) to designate the point at which a driver must yield to conflicting traffic. These were introduced as an alternative to using a stop line (seen adjacent to stop signs or on the near side of many signalized intersections) at places where a full stop is not required.

The layout and spacing of the triangles looks correct. However, this is not a proper application of a yield line, as there's nothing to yield to there. I think they used a yield line here instead of the markings that typically accompany the approach side of a speed hump/speed table.

Thank you. Yield Lines make sense but I've never seen this at any intersection to my knowledge. Like you said, it's not an appropriate application.

I'm used to seeing chevrons that point in the direction of traffic flow at speed humps, but they're usually applied directly to the speed hump, not before it. And they don't resemble sharks teeth yield lines (like in the OP):

How are you all seeing the photo? I'm getting Photobucket's "update account" message.

Can we have a Google Maps link to the location?  I can't see the photo either.

The photo was visible yesterday. Not sure why it's suddenly expired.

It was a speed bump with shark's teeth yield lines painted on the pavement right in front of the speed bump. It made it look like you're supposed to yield to the speed bump.

Photobucket became really shitty this past July with a lot of the old photos being deleted and people complaining about it became a minor cause célèbre this summer. I'm assuming they didn't change anything and its hosting services still suck.

Not just that, but Photofuckit wants to charge $400 for the ability to hotlink photos (like the above).

I still find it odd that it worked yesterday but not today though. Did Photobucket forget to block Dustin's photo? I would think, without the $400 subscription, you wouldn't be able to hotlink at all.

Well, this took some questionable actions to produce.  Photobucket sucks.  When I searched for the guy's username within the Photobucket site, I was directed to a porn site.  So here's what I'm assuming the picture was supposed to be.

Yeah, well that's the best I could get Photobucket to cough up.

Ooh, I just remembered the tactic I found earlier from another thread that ended up not working.  Combine that with said questionable actions, and...

Voilà!

This looks like they took speed table markings and applied them to a simple speed bump, except they got the triangles backwards.

True.

But the road appears to be on private property, so there's no requirement for the centerline to be yellow. There are many parking lots near me where the centerlines are white.

Hmm. I'm tempted to say that, because it's not a legal "road" (simply a parking lot connecting road), it still doesn't need MUTCD-compliant markings. But I'm not 100% sure.

Anything open to public traffic, even on private property, is required to follow the MUTCD, even parking lots. There is no direct enforcement mechanism, though. However, if it could be proven that failing to follow the MUTCD contributed to an accident, the property owner could be held liable.

Private lots are notoriously bad about this stuff.  But at least the basic stuff, like red is stop and green is go is followed.  But nothing else tends to be.
