Current status of CA 187 (Venice Blvd.)?
« on: December 21, 2017, 01:31:46 PM »

I had thought that in 2016, Caltrans had reached agreement with the city of Los Angeles to relinquish all of CA 187 to the city. However, CA 187 remains in Caltrans' October 2017 bridge log, and also in Caltrans' Postmile Query Tool.

Is CA 187 unrelinquished at this point? And if so, what is the snag with carrying out the apparently agreed-to relinquishment, and how soon is the relinquishment likely to happen?

I ask this to tie up a loose end for the Travel Mapping project. CA 187 had been included in the project as a draft route file, but I took it out expecting that its relinquishment would be imminent. Maybe I should put it back in TM for the time being?

Some of this was previously discussed in another thread, with the pertinent discussion in early 2016.

Your best bet would be to look for relinquishment in the CTC minutes. Although things are relinquished legislatively, it takes quite a few years for the road to be brought up to a point where the city is willing to accept it. There are relinquishment resolutions in every CTC meeting, and I go through them and capture them on my website. Unless it has happened since labor day (I'm doing the post-labor-day updates starting tomorrow), it would be on cahighways.org for Route 187.  Looking at my pages, I don't seem to have noted any relinquishment discussion.
