^^ And the right and left arrow signs are thru arrows turned sideways.  (They are taller than wide as installed.)

One of Birmingham's old and funky / weird / awful painted Truck shields was re-purposed for directions to I-59:

I wonder if there was ever a corresponding I-20 (or even a US 20) shield?

If I'm not mistaken there used to be the similar type of US 78/11(31/280?) truck route signs around the 31st Street/Airport Blvd area as well. Probably why the sign painter back in the day just went with a US shield for 59. Never saw a 20 one as 59 has always been unofficially deemed the prominent route of the two.

Edit: the 78/11/31/280 signs were actually just blue and white square signs I believe. So mistake within the mistake...

Apparently, there's a US 288 in Houston now:
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Yet another 3-digit US 36 shield has appeared in Petersburg on VA 36. This replaced a correct VA 36 shield. This is now the 4th US 36 overall, and third 3-digit shield.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

Don't @ me. Seriously.

While researching and finding a "632"  solution for the Difference game, I came across a website with some photo directions for a 2011 Librarian's conference in Athens, OH. One of the pics I played for the 632 solution

Another, gives us a US 32 shield on a BGS in place of an OH 32 Shield. And double-checking Streetview, this error still seems to be there

Wow. I got a photo of this sign year before last. How did I miss this error? Usually those things jump out at me.

There used to be an error Ohio-for-a-US sign for either 33 or 50 at the old alignment of US 33 before the new alignment was built. I have a photo of it somewhere.

I was JUST thinking earlier today about how it might be a good idea for OH-32 to form part of a 3-digit US highway.  Or a suffixed route for US50 (but I hate suffixed routes).

You don't have to change the number. 32 is a reasonable number for the route.
Clinched, plus MA 286

Traveled, plus several state routes

Lowest untraveled: 25 (updated from 14)

New clinches: MA 286
New traveled: MA 14, MA 123

Or 48. OH 32 would make a great extension of US 48.

Or actually, it should have been signed US 50 and old US 50 could have been US 50A.

Sadly I believe many of these signs are being replaced.

Remnant of the Underground Railroad days.

Pennsylvania uses color-coded detours in case there's an incident or closure on one of its freeways.

Errant US 123 sign in Mt. Rainier National Park.  Should be Washington State 123.  This is a child of US 12, so there is a connection to a US route.  It's possible that the park made this sign and didn't have any George Washington silhouettes available.  This isn't the only SR 123 that's signed as a US route in the park.  When I saw this second incident, I was ready to pull over to take the picture.

Also, the numbers in it ain't centered either...
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

I saw signs like this in the wild back in August 2011.  There are a bunch of them.  Just wanted to chime and say they've been making this mistake for a long time now.

US 89

Here's a "UT 89" north of Ogden. I believe this is on eastbound UT-134:

Errant US 900 shield on a street blade in Renton, Washington.  Should be SR 900, a child of Interstate 90.  This used to be part of US 10 around the south end of Lake Washington before the Lake Washington Floating Bridge opened in 1939, so a US Highway designation here isn't unheard of.

I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

Found another IL example, but no picture, just a Google Streetview Link

Along IL 173 East, approaching the Jane Addams Tollway, the "JCT"  ahead shields list I-90, I-39, and IL 51. Should be US 51, not IL 51. The BGSs at the Entrance Ramps do use the correct Shields
