I usually never try to snap photos of 36" shields but hey, here ya go.

Come to think of it, Illinois doesn't have many 3dus routes, does it?

45 + 116 = 161

The little experience I've had with driving in Illinois has been kind of odd in that regard. It seemed like I saw quite a few 36" shields on surface roads or highways <55mph, which just seems odd and like overkill.

US 89

6 + 156 = 162

From Spanish Fork, UT:

83 + 80 = 163 (west of Atlantic, IA)

Edited to replace with a picture (using same routes as before) that I don't think I've posted on here before. Just for a little variety. ;-)

There's US136 and US150.  And that's it.  It took me a long time before I learned that 3du's even existed, growing up in the Chicago area.  Every US highway in Chicago is 2 digits (though US231 isn't very far away in Indiana).

M-95 + M-69 = 164

I don't know why I didn't think, until now, to list the equation backwards, so that the first number is the most important number: the sum

176 = 84 + 92

178 = 155 + 23. Taken on GA 236 west in the Atlanta area (likely unincorporated).

Sign rotated 90 degrees by <name removed>, on Flickr

The 236 sign is rotated; it should be facing the road to the right, and the arrow should be pointing behind the camera. Neither route turns here.

IL used to have US 460, but that route was mostly replaced, functionally, by I-64, and much of the former roadway is now IL 15

I'll throw the old 1960s map that shows US 460, as well as the original I-64 routing between STL and Louisville, following the US 50 corridor in IL and US 150 corridor in IN

US 89

89 + 91 = 180

Edit: this is my 1000th post, so I’m now an Expressway. :sombrero:
