Title: IL-56/Butterfield Road Project
Post by: Stratuscaster on November 04, 2013, 10:14:48 AM
For those that care, the IL-56/Butterfield Road widening project in Wheaton/Warrenville, IL is, for the most part, complete. Crews are still finishing up landscaping and correcting signing errors (on the east end on the project, a lot of WB IL-56 signs were posted PRIOR to intersections where RIGHT TURN ONLY signs should have been - oops.)

At the entrance to the Blackwell Forest Preserve is this gem - I had not seen a "neutered" side road warning sign before - is that in the MUTCD?

The City of Warrenville apparently kicked in some money to get their way on some of the design aspects as IL-56 runs through the town. All the signage posts and traffic signal posts are black, and rather large green signs for cross streets are ground-posted at intersections that don't have traffic lights.

Note the standard street blade for Butterfield mounted atop the larger cross street signs.

This signage only extends are far as the widening project did, so there are some along IL-59 south of IL-56, but no such signs exist north of IL-56.
