Title: Historic map of Charlotte NC?
Post by: usends on November 06, 2016, 03:00:03 PM
For US Ends .com, I'm looking for a map or inset from a limited timeframe: c. 1927-1932.
Needs to be detailed enough to show US 170 on Tryon Street (this is before US 29 was extended through Charlotte).

Don't know if this is useful (page 61): http://xfer.services.ncdot.gov/imgdot/DOTCountyMaps/historic/1930_county_maps.pdf

That timeframe should have been perfect... it's a little surprising (as well as unfortunate) that the US route designations weren't marked on there.

I have a 1926 inset of Charlotte (also shows no US routes) and a 1932 inset that already has US 29.

What specific question are you trying to answer?  US 170's endpoint should be wherever NC 15 met NC 20.

Incidentally while trying to google my way to a Charlotte inset I found a Tampa inset that shows US 301 duplexed with US 41-92 west to Tampa:

Not really trying to answer a question, just want a map that backs up my statement that the terminus was located on Tryon at Trade.

Interesting.  It actually makes sense that 301 might've shared the same endpoint as US 92 during the brief time that it terminated in Tampa.  But contemporary FDoT maps don't confirm that.  Also, the seller claims that is a 1930s map, but US 301 wasn't extended into FL until about 1947.
