XKCD: Lane Change Highway
MikeTheActuary:
I think the XKCD creator may have driven I-84 westbound through Hartford.

Reminded me of I-5 in downtown Seattle, with all its exit only lanes. If you want to stay on I-5, better start changing lanes! https://www.google.com/maps/@47.6133252,-122.3305166,3a,90y,189.28h,82.96t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s51UnhjBNUxuwsE136F5eAw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Staying on southbound I-75 through downtown Detroit: You have to move to the two new right lanes from the I-94 and Mack Avenue entrances. Then past I-375, you need to move to the two new left lanes to avoid exiting to M-10 and I-96. Not quite so bad northbound.

For southbound on I-5, you can take the "to I-90 EAST" ramp which then has its own ramp to return to I-5 south.
Just in case it's too crowded to get over those last couple of lanes.
TheHighwayMan394:
Westbound I-94 through downtown Minneapolis. As the tradeoff for swapping the I-35W North ramp to westbound 94 to coming in on the left side of 94, the mainline right lane on I-94 drops at Hennepin Avenue instead of the old auxiliary lane that existed between 35W and Hennepin. So you move into the second right lane...which is an exit only to westbound I-394 once you get through the tunnel.
My anecdotal, limited observation is rush hour has gotten much worse in this area since this project was completed.
