Unforecasted rain shower this morning in Fresno.  I was actually drenched when I got back from my run before sunrise.  We haven't had rain since April.

Apparently the rain shower in Fresno is more rare than I suspected.  This was only the fourth time since 1881 that Fresno had recordable precipitation during the month of August:

Level 2 drought (out of 4). Go 100 miles in almost any direction and it decreases to level 1. Almost none of the Eastern Time zone outside the Boston area is as bad as we are.

Texas, Nevada (including Las Vegas), and California have significant portions with level 4, though, and Utah is almost entirely in 3 (Ogden excepted, at 2).

Note that it's none, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4; even 0 is dry.
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

Dramatically cooler than yesterday, high in the low 70s (which was probably the low temp for much of the last week).

Still no surprises here; yesterday's temperatures were:

Alice:               100 high (+2);  75 low (-2)
Corpus Christi:   97 high (0);     80 low (-2)
Kingsville:          98 high (0);    76 low (-1)
Laredo:            105 high (+1);  79 high (-1)
Premont:          101 high (+1);  77 low (+1)

We too will be cooling down for the next couple of days as we monitor possible tropical development just off the Texas coast.

Today in Kitchener is sunny with a high of 24 C (76 F) and a low of 8 C (47 F). That must be the coldest "low" we've had in a long time, and a sign that fall is around the corner.

SW Florida here, it is August. The weather is exactly what is expected. The snowbirds are nowhere to be seen this time of year!

Very rainy last couple of days from the tropical wave near the Texas coast.  Laredo fails to reach triple-digits for the first time since Memorial Day, ending a streak of 78 consecutive days of 100+ degrees, with 96 days total days so far for this year 2022 with still over a month of summer left.
