Figured out I have 4 Alabama State Highways that I am the only clincher of: 143, 147, 148, 235.

OK, so to make sure I'm reading this right...

The route you have clinched in NY that has the fewest other clinchers is I-878?

Correct. I haven't done much (if anything really) in NY that isn't interstate mileage.

I was taking a look at my Travel Mapping, and it looks like I have clinched 3 routes that only have one other clincher:

- TX 19
- TX 35 (used to be the only clincher for a while)
- TX Loop 7
Buc-ee's and QuikTrip fanboy. Clincher of FM roads. Proponent of the TX U-turn.

My best is Colorado, having been one of only three clinchers for three routes: CO119, CO257, and CO392.

Kinda forgot I made this thread. I'm going to have to revisit tomorrow if I have some free time. I know a bunch of the Puerto Rico routes I clinched, I'm the only traveler much less clincher.

Funny that I am the only TM user to have clinched, or even traveled on, the highway the OP uses for his avatar, Northwest Territories highway 10. But many non-TM users have clinched that highway, including many of the ~900 residents of Tuktoyaktuk (highway is the only land access to that hamlet), and the many dignitaries (including Canada's former Governor General, representing Queen Elizabeth) who rode the highway the day it was opened to the public.

As for my own avatar, I and four other TM users have clinched Alaska state route 11. One of those four is among the forum members who traveled the highway during the only Alaska road meet.

I used to use CO5 as my avatar, since I a) am from Colorado and b) climb mountains. But another user joined, had another CO shield as an avatar and it looked confusing when we were corresponding in threads, so I switched. I haven't made it to NWT yet, but the Dempster is a bucket list road for me and I'll knock it out in the next 10 years or so. My plan is also to get the entirety of the Nahanni Range Road which, I believe, is the only bit of Yukon that you're missing.

Bruce

Quite a few highways in Washington only have myself and one other user in TM. The only one that I'm totally alone on seems to be a piece of Historic US 10 that I got during a road closure on I-90.

flan

I am the only person to clinch ND 19, ND 20, and ND 56. ND 20 comes with the asterisk that I turned around right before the Canadian border instead of going through.

JayhawkCO

A new update, including all US & Canadian states, provinces, and territories. Bolded highlight the routes where I'm the only one.

Just seeing this thread for the first time.

My inital gut reaction is that there are plenty of travelers like myself who have never been on TM, so take the "only clincher" info on there with a sizeable grain of salt.

For Minnesota, I have several that are tied.

I, along with only two other people, have clinched:

MN 4, MN 6, MN 23, MN 27, MN 29, MN 34, MN 40, MN 87, MN 92, MN 102, MN 108, MN 113, MN 167, MN 223, and MN 226.

I was one of only two people to clinch MN 222, but that was recently turned back into a county highway.

In my state, none.

I did find a few roads in Iceland that I am (according to TravelMapping) the only clincher:  38 and 95

95 surprised me a bit as it is a former routing of the "Ring Road".

I poked around at a few domestic areas but didn't see any.  And I didn't see any option to generate a nice neat sortable table.
So my answer for US roads is "don't know for sure, but probably none".

Re-visiting my response from several years ago.

I am no longer the sole clincher of TH 38.

I am still listed as the sole clincher of TH 95.  The caveat being that it was signed as part of TH 1 when I drove it in 2017; the number was changed after my visit.  So I guess it depends whether somebody tracks numbers, or tracks asphalt*.

* Actually TH 95 is part asphalt, part gravel :)

To take the Subject Line literally, I have none in Maryland where I am the sole clincher, which doesn't surprise me in the least.  Closest that I could find was being one of 14 who have clinched MD 636.

And as user tmoore952 pointed out earlier, this is all with a grain of salt as not everybody uses Travel Mapping.

pderocco

I live in California, which has no roads unclinched by travelmapping users. The only roads I see that have one clinch are a substantial section of historic US-40 around Auburn, which I've driven practically all of but somehow missed a bit of it right in Auburn, and a tiny little historic US-50 in Folsom. There are six roads that have two clinchers, routes 59, 104, 113, the west section of 162, and a bit of historic US-40, and a bit of historic US-66 in Barstow. The last one is the only one I've done, so that would be my "rarest" clinch. I'm also one of three who clinched routes 3 and 36, and one of four who clinched 33, 49, 96, 119, 137, the west part of 190, the east part of 193, 198, 238, and 299.

It's often surprising what roads have few clinchers. I guess some long roads like 33, 49, 96, and 299 really aren't the kind of roads one would normally drive all at once, increasing the chance that one part will be driven but not another part. I drove practically all of 96 at once, 299 on two successive days, and the others over several years. I notice that interstates get a lot of clinches, I guess since people need to drive them even if not on a clinching tour, but I didn't polish off California's interstates until I did a systematic clinching trip around the Bay Area over Thanksgiving. And I'm really surprised few people have driven the old US-66 through Barstow, because it's a major crossroads, and a very famous road.

pderocco

For US routes on travelmapping, I'm one of three who've clinched US-395, and one of five who've clinched US-95. I highly recommend US-395, by the way. Overall, it's my favorite numbered route, especially alongside the Sierra Nevada, in the mountainous areas of Oregon, and Washington north of Spokane. US-95 is only really nice in the northern half of Idaho.

ModernDayWarrior

I haven't gotten around to setting up an account on travelmapping yet, but it looks like I would be the only person to have clinched the road in my current avatar. I would also be the only clincher of MO-117, MO-32 Business in Park Hills (both very short roads) and MO-123, along with a handful of other Missouri roads I've found that have one other clincher.

webny99

This exercise points up how much more competitive the Northeast is on TravelMapping compared to other areas of the country. I am one of just six users on TM to have clinched the 182-mile NY 104. Everything else I've clinched in NY, even obscure routes like NY 272 and 279, has at least seven clinchers.

There are a bunch of routes where I would hold the record for most total miles driven - NY 104, NY 404, NY 286, NY 153, NY 441 and NY 250 among them. But that would be pretty hard to calculate, and bring plenty of potential for petty arguments (not that this forum is stranger to that).

Worldwide, I have a few clinches in Manitoba shared with just oscar and/or Ib3kii, but none entirely to myself (the one I do have according to TM is not technically a full clinch, I just had to count it as such since I'm over 50% and it has only one loggable segment).

CNGL-Leudimin

While I haven't used TravelMapping on its current iteration, I'm pretty sure I'm the only member of this forum to have clinched every regional route in Aragon (and possibly a few other regions) I currently have clinched.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

I know that only Oscar and I clinched QC 199 (and I clinched it more times than anyone ever will). The loneliest segment I have is QC 138 between Sheldrake and the La Romaine access road. I should really use TM, but I still haven't gotten to it.
