This week brings a big update. In fact, between the previous updates to the photo gallery and other pages as well as the new logo now featured on the homepage and other icons, it feels like a soft relaunch. I also removed the fictional pages, as they did not fit with my vision of the site going forward.

Additionally, I added/improved citations for the Inner Loop, Niagara Scenic Parkway, NY 17/I-86, and Regions info pages; updated the MPO page; updated the I-90, Thruway, I-86/NY 17, and NY 104 exit lists.

Finally, I completed the missing photos project, adding photos for NY 52, NY 52A, NY 56, NY 72, NY 74, NY 86, NY 92, NY 97, NY 104, NY 113, NY 153, NY 173, NY 178, NY 201, NY 206, NY 252, NY 291, NY 298, NY 300, NY 342, NY 345, NY 365, NY 383, NY 414, NY 418, NY 434, NY 458, NY 812, Ford Street Bridge, Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge, Marcy-SUNY Parkway, O'Rorke Bridge, and Winton Road.

Have you considered adding a lightbox viewer to your photo galleries? Would be easy to implement based upon your database driven format.

Interesting idea.  I'll keep a note of the W3C lightbox page and keep the idea in the back of my mind - it might help deal with some of the now (ever since I got dynamic titles working for the gallery) redundant header info.  Of course, not all my photos are quite as well ordered as the AARoads ones: http://nysroads.com/photos.php?route=i590&state=NY

With the Thruway now using all-electronic tolling, it's time for a fairly significant update. I updated the exit lists for the Thruway, Berkshire Spur, I-87, I-90, I-490, I-88, I-890, Taconic State Parkway, NY 17, NY 7, I-678, Henry Hudson Parkway, and I-278. I also fixed a typo on the St. Lawrence County meet page and added new photos for I-87/Thruway, NY 17/Quickway, NY 17 (Sloatsburg), and I-84.

This month, I upgraded the site to HTML5, allowing for a major update to the photo gallery display. It should be much easier to find things now that routes in NY can be filtered by region (based on the economic development regions). This update also saw a couple of bug fixes to the error page and mobile CSS. I also added missing photos for I-676 (PA) and Tipperary Hill; updated/corrected the Inner Loop graphics; updated the Northern State Parkway, I-87, Thruway, I-287, and Garden State Parkway exit lists; and updated the links page.

Based upon your photos, it appears the roundabout at the east end of I-587 with NY 32 is finally complete?

I-587 now has the unique status of beginning and ending at a roundabout.

It is.  There still a work zone with some punch list items when I drove through, but the project was functionally done and due to finish within a couple weeks.

Finally, my next update!  If I had known it would be this long, I would have split the Veteran's Day and US 9 photos into a separate update.

This month, I adjusted photo locations to improve accuracy and match current conditions and updated the I-90, I-87, US 4, NY 8, NY 840, NY 199, FDR Drive, Sagtikos State Parkway, Cross Island Parkway, and Taconic State Parkway exit lists. I also added photos for the following:

-New York: US 9, I-87/Northway, I-490, I-390/NY 390, I-90/Thruway, NY 430, and I-90/Albany

Hey, vdeane, looking at your site made me think of something I notice every time I’m on the Northway that I’ve always wondered about and I thought maybe you might know. Specifically, heading north at Exit 7 there’s that strange pull-thru BGS for I-87 North to Montreal that's shaped sort of like an upside-down "T" (for lack of a better way to describe it). Nothing wrong with the sign, and it seems like a way to save some of the cost of sheet metal, but I’ve always been curious why that sign is shaped like that. Do you perhaps know?
